We want to play against him, and I'm sorry he'll have to sit out the game! If he's really the best rookie of last year's draft, then we want to beat the best!
Brian Cushing Suspended 4 GamesJLee9718 05-15-2010, 03:37 PM We want to play against him, and I'm sorry he'll have to sit out the game! If he's really the best rookie of last year's draft, then we want to beat the best! tryfuhl 05-15-2010, 06:54 PM I know that getting the NFL and NFLPA to agree to change the punishment and tier the punishment so that the level of punishment reflects the varying degrees of what the specific banned substance is very difficult to do. But it needs to be done so that the NFL can be taken seriously. Right now it seems like a joke. and a lot of that has to do with thing like that being used as masking agents such as diuretics players have to be really careful, would suck getting a failure for an over the counter product tryfuhl 05-15-2010, 06:56 PM It does sound like he's trying to say he had a tumor. That's completely preposterous and dumb. But let's explore that: If he did, he would have had testicular cancer (like Lance Armstrong, common in young men). A testicular cancer with elevated HCG would be somewhat advanced, and certainly would require orchiectomy (removal of testicle). That didn't happen which means he clearly doesn't have it. Could his doctors have told him he might have it? Sure, but they're not dumb - they knew most likely he was using steroids. And yes, hermaphrodites could have elevations of HCG, depending on what female to male parts they had. ;) Btw, there was some thought that marijuana could cause a false postiive HCG, but that was disproven in the 1980s. Conclusion: The guy is an idiot and was probably doing steroids. maybe he got breast cancer from his bitch tits (gynocomastia) ethat001 05-16-2010, 11:13 PM maybe he got breast cancer from his bitch tits (gynocomastia) Breast cancer actually doesn't raise your HCG. And he may have "bitch tits", but I'd bet he has small balls.. ;) tryfuhl 05-17-2010, 12:17 AM Breast cancer actually doesn't raise your HCG. And he may have "bitch tits", but I'd bet he has small balls.. ;) Was merely a joke.. though iirc correctly (it's been several years since I've been out of the health field) hcg (I'd guess typically due to pregnancy) helps prevent breast cancer tootergray34 05-17-2010, 01:00 AM brian cushing has tits now...and that is no joke... CRedskinsRule 05-18-2010, 04:18 PM Texans | Attorney says Brian Cushing had pituitary gland issue (http://www.fantasysp.com/player/nfl/Brian_Cushing/942953) so does this offer a real explanation? over the mountain 05-18-2010, 04:43 PM "We did research and found out that his was a plausible explanation. We consulted an expert who suggested further testing. We became convinced that this was a situation that was naturally produced.' " It sounds like when Cushing found out about his positive test he went to a lawyer first and lawyered up. Then at the attorney's office, they decided to see if there are medically acceptable reasons for his test result. Google came up with tumors and a pituitary gland issue. I honestly dont think Cushing ever got or sought medical treatment for his tumors or pituitary gland issue. Im starting to think he didnt offer any medical expert witnesses at his appeal, instead just submitting random medical articles talking about plausible explanations without directly linking Cushing to the medical conditions referred to in the articles. Like I said prior, I hate people who use "plausible deniability". Notice how the attorney doesnt say whether he did the follow up tests. Notice how the attorney doesnt say a doctor ever diagnosed Cushing with this gland issue or tumor. His lawyer is playing doctor based off what he read from a few favorable articles on teh internet while keeping a blind eye to the majority of articles saying otherwise. I helped on a case where a college kid was drunk and acting violent in the hospital. Guess what I did? Googled to see if concussions can cause violent outbursts. Was the drunk college kid's violent outburst at hospital due to his concussion? probably not but I had a webmd article saying concussions can cause mood swings, irritability, etc. so its plausible. lol i dont even know if he had a concussion. Cushing should be ashamed for himself and his teammates. The more he opens his mouth the more shit that comes flying out of it. He needs a better attorney or needs to be the better person. redskins121684 05-18-2010, 05:52 PM I am not defending Brian Cushing here, that should be said first. His claim that the HCG test result showing elevated levels are coming from a pituitary gland defect are, sadly, plausible and well documented. Cushing has a medical history showing irregular and spurratic growth patterns. In high school he had the unfortunate experience of growing over 6 inches in a period of one year. The pain that this type of growth would put an individual in would be absolutely agonizing especially if he is trying to play sports while he is growing like this. His father has actually spoken at some length regarding this condition and at one point Cushing had to be taken to the hospital because he could not walk as a result of the pain. Now I am not an expert on this but I do have a strong background in neurophysiology and one interesting thing with this is Cushing employed the increasingly popular hyperbaric chamber therapy during his knee injury toward the end of august. Now, hyperbaric exposure does have an effect on pitutitary glandular function and this has been documented well in many clinical trials. Typically it is employed with adolescents who have poor blood flow to the thyroid or pituitary resulting in low organ weight but in Cushings case the exposure would have been during sleep cycles where endocrine function would normally spike. In research settings most doctors have taken adolescents who are functionally deficient in terms of pituitary performance and they have observed a normalization of pituitary function following hyperbaric exposure. In Cushing's case you have an already overactive pituitary in a hyperbaric environment. Is it plausible for the gland to secrete a slightly higher than normal amount of HCG during his time in a hyperbaric environment particularly if that time coincided with his sleep cycles.....yes it is. What's more interesting is that he stopped using the hyperbaric chamber sometime in September or early October, he never tested positive for HCG during any subsequent tests. I think it would be really interesting to have him get back in the chamber for a month and test him again, or even take a guy like Lavernius Coles who uses a similar chamber and test his HCG levels. Another important part of this is the amount of HCG in his blood or urine. If it was really high then disregard everything I just said. I think he's big juicer but I thought it bore some mentioning that this defense is not unheard of in the science community although a case with these specific circumstances would be really hard to duplicate. over the mountain 05-20-2010, 01:14 PM The source also points out that, while lawyer Harvey Steinberg generally introduced evidence as to the possibility that hCG may be naturally produced due to conditions other than the presence in the body of a tumor or a placenta, Steinberg failed to introduce evidence demonstrating that Cushing had any of the conditions that could naturally produce hCG. ^ this is from an article i just read and while it is an un-named source, it confirms my suspicion that Cushing add his atty only presented medical articles talking about what could possibly cause his test results and not any evidence or expert medical testimony that Cushing in fact suffered from those possible causes. Also read an article which says the NFL is not happy with cushing's post public PR antics by making all these false claims and pleas. The NFL and Cushing know the ful and real story and I imagine there not to happy about a player and aent repeatedly lying to the media and painting te NFL and teh appeal process in a negative light. I wonder if he keeps it up they can suspend him some more for lying and bringing a negative light to the shield? this cushing thing and the way cushing, his agent and lawyer are handling things is freakin intersting. i love to hate people who flat out lie to the fans. Cushing thought he was dying? yeah right you fucking fake. Cushing thought he had a thyroid problem which caused the one-time positive test but miraculously and naturally cured itself and didnt cause any other fasle positives? lol, man, his atty is an absolute idiot who came in unprepared and willing to have his client lie, repeatedly. |
