Total BS. I mean if after the award has already been given out to the player then I think it's hard to get it back and do a revote. But when the award has not been handed out and this info comes to light then the powers that be should have said "he cheated. We don't reward cheating." and simply given the award to the person who was second on the original voting.
The worse part is it seems they knew about it from almost the beginning of the season when he took his piss test. It was at that point the league should have said "Cushing is out of the running. Can't tell you why but exclude him from the voting process." All this does is show that if you can't do it on your own cheating is ok in order to get rewarded.
and the idiots who revoted and picked him are just as bad. I know I'm kinda being biased cause I thought Orakpo was second or runner up to the award but simply put ...you cheat and it's ok and you still get rewarded. Screw everyone else who didn't cheat and worked just as hard or harder.

Two time rookie of the year...sounds kind of odd. What's more odd is that the appeals process is such that even though he tested positive in September he was able to even play the whole year to even qualify for the ROY

SI is reporting that Cushing still won the DROY award with 18 votes. Byrd got 10.
Arakpo received 3 votes.
Got to wonder what the AP voters were thinking...it's fine to roid up, as long as your good. Shameful if you ask me, sends an awful message.\

All this proves is there is no real fair system. I thought Orakpo was the runner up during the first vote. I didn't think it was far off, in other words it was a close race between Orakpo and Cushing. Now I keep hearing how he was a clear winner the first time and now instead of handing it to the runner up of the original voting system your going to have a second vote and now Orakpo only gets 3 votes? WTF?

I don't think he was the runner up the first time. In fact all he got was 2 votes, this time he got 3

Agreed. At some point when he tested positive for something banned the league should have had his name taken out of contention. Appeals or not all that should garner is whether he plays or has to sit games out. It's a risk one takes when popping vitamins, pill, drugs etc.
Mr. Cushing.... if you have nothing to mask, then why were you taking a masking drug? I mean if there is nothing to hide then why take a drug that hides results?

Perhaps I'm confusing something... I thought for Rookie of the Year fans voted for it, perhaps as well as coach's, and media? I thought I remembered Cushing and Orakpo being neck and neck for an award? Maybe it was the pro bowl but I could have sworn it was ROY.
ROY is voted on by the media only.
The only time where fans vote is with the Pro Bowl.

To his credit P.King said no to voting for Cushing and voted for Clay Matthews instead. I'm still in shock that 18 of the 29 previous voters still supported him as DROY. Unbelievable that writers could be that obtuse.

Says alot when it comes to football and PED's. Alot of people just don't care.
I would bet a MLB vote under the same circumstances would have gone in a completely different direction.
