The excellent from last night:

1. McNabb and Grossman looked solid. Grossman was especially good, which to me was not that surprising. But I think its safe to say the talent at QB...McNabb and Grossman much better than Campbell and that other guy
2. Its nice to see an O-Line pass protect. Our first team run blocking seem to ok, pass protection was excellent. Heyer played really well along with Silverback.
3. Thank god ARE is not kick returning anymore. I think we are finally gonna have a threat returning kicks again.
4. Devin Thomas, after a miserable start...great route, perfect catch...dude needs to play with more confidence sometimes.
5. AH needs to go ahead and be put on the 1st team D along side Kemo at Gholston DE spot. Let this guy just go after the QB.

What we need work on:

1. 1st team D looked confused several times. I understand its growing pain, but we should have been controling that line of scrimage against a much weaker Bills Oline.
2. Portis looked ok, but it seemed to me Torrain just ran better. I think the 1st team Oline could have run blocked better as well.

Not much else, great 1st game...made a really gud impression...

Yep -- it was talked about during the postgame show on ESPN980 last night. Run defense was clearly an issue. The Bills had 146 yards on 18 carries for just over 8 ypc.

There were some really bad angles and over-pursuit on running plays. I'm confident that will be resolved over the next three weeks.

The McNabb-Cooley connection is going to be huge this season. They've already got a serious thing going.

Man, it's hard not to come away being impressed with Trent Williams. And I don't know how Torrain doesn't make this team.

The final score aside, I was really impressed with the team's focus and cohesion this early on. During the Zorn and Gibbs era, it would have taken at least third or fourth pre-season game for the offense to put together that first drive. The execution and, again, focus was evident.

Trent was very impressive.

I had to do a double take at seeing #46, he kinda has a Betts like build almost. Torain definitely makes this team.

I'm catching the NFL network stream for a rewatch. Trent Williams is an absolute beast. He looked like he belongs on the football field. After seeing the abominable play of D'Anthony Batiste and the not-as-bad-but-still-bad play of Levi Jones, I'm very happy.

I loved how everyone played. Also keep in mind for those saying in past yrs we wouldn't look this good till preseason game 3 or 4..... both Gibbs and Zorn were afraid of other teams understanding the offense or seeing too much of the plays so they were very vanilla with the offense. It seems the Shanahan's are different. They are of the mind set of this is our offense, it is good, and you have to stop it. They can go to a different person every time causing DC's to have to have head aches.

This game was difficult for both teams to game plan for. Both teams are using new schemes on both sides of the ball so no one knew what each was bringing to the table. Now other teams have some game film on some of our plays but our defense might be better playing teams who we might have game film on.

This game is the type of game I want our reg season to be like.... Spank bad teams!! there is no way the bills should even compete with us.

Likes:
Both Fred and Devin scored
Williams is a nasty tackle with an attitude on the field that will be great to watch during the season
Even with Heyer on the field the offensive line looked good

Loves:
Gano can kick his ass off, I don't think they had a real chance to return a kickoff
McNabb Cooley connection looked great
Torian and Keiland both looked great. Keiland has a nose for the endzone
That we thumped them and scored so many points, its been years since I seen our team do that well
Brandon Banks= punt returner

Gotta be on the team
Banks
K. Williams
Torian

Suprise
Bobby Wade he was doin his thing out there

Yes, yes, and yes. I wouldn't leave Davis out either. This game might have been lets see what McNabb and Cooley could do. Next might be McNabb and Davis. Who knows. I could see both being on the field giving McNabb a couple of options on a roll out.

Silverback humiliated Maybin consistently.

I'm not sure how good Okung will be, but it looks like Trent "Silverback" Williams won't leave any doubt in the Redskins' mind that they made the right choice.

On another but related note, did anyone else see Chris Samuels on the sidelines huddled up with CP and few others towards the end? Looks like he's transitioning into his new role very nicely.
