Just out of curiousity who would you have kept? I have a great respect for the numbers game you have created in breaking down players on the Oline and I wonder who you saw in preseason that would have warranted GM Gtripp to keep? BTW I am not trying to be a smart ass at all and I do respect your opinion on this part of the team in particular.I would have kept Rinehart and Edwin Williams instead of Montgomery. That would bring the total to nine.

I'd also probably have Rinehart or Lichtensteiger starting at RG shortly. I think Kory will, at some point, but there's just no one else behind him.

You guys act like you're the ones dissecting game and practice tape; and at the facility holding practices with these guys day in and day out.

Look, cutting and trading players isn't an exact science and every coach blows one here and there, but on the whole I'm 100% confident that our staff made the right roster decisions. I mean, did Justin Tryon really have a definitive edge over the players that we decided to keep this year? I didn't think so, unless you guys were watching a different Tryon. He was an average nickel guy, in my opinion. Again, my opinion. I think you can make an argument against Westbrook, but on the other hand he's been pretty solid on teams since the day he got here. And now that Rock is no longer here, we need a few guys flying to the ball on kick-offs and punts.

As Pain pointed out most of the guys we were whining about just five months ago aren't even in the NFL right now. Ladell Betts could do no wrong around here, but he couldn't even make the running back starved New Orleans Saints. Colt Brennen, lord have mercy! The list goes on and on.

I think the 53 we see today probably won't be the same 53 that suits up for Dallas; Terrence Austin included.

What you say just means we can't draft worth shit, or just have really bad luck with drafting. I can't see how anyone here could feel anything, but so so towards our roster. It doesn't suck, but those who are really happy with it, can't be serious. We cut Austin for the small ass speedster in Banks. Gutsy move, but what happens if Banks get nailed. He is shorter and weighs less than I do, and if a NFL CB nailed me full speed I would be in the hospital. Everyone here in last year's draft had it right about getting the 6'4" stud WR that could get the high ball, now we want undersized smurfs that are speedy. It might work, but then again it might be a disaster. In short, I think our roster is rather vanilla and lacking in depth with the exception of QB and RB.

As a sign of the roster turnover and how bad our roster was at the end of the season last year, of the 10 players released in March (Randy Thomas, Rock, Randle-El, Betts, Griffin, Smoot, Collins, Mason, E. Williams, Stolinsky) only 3 are on other teams final rosters (Randle-El in Pittsburgh, Rock in Oakland and Collins in Chicago) and none have significant roles.

I thought Todd Collins declined a contract offer from Chicago?

Where is this 6'4" WR stud you keep talking about? And you would be in the hospital, I am assuming Banks is faster, and more elusive than you are and probably stronger. You can't hit what you can't catch.

Also Kelly and Thomas were supposed to be the tall "studs" you keep referring to. So we've been down that road. Do we need WR help? Yes but don't talk as if we passed on Andre Johnson to keep Banks. The 2011 draft will have plenty of potential "studs" at WR and I am sure we will end up drafting one of them.

I'm not sure we just wanted the smurfs but the smurfs did perform a lot better than the 6'2 & 6'4 WR on our team imo

Desean Jackson isn't much bigger, and I would think we'd just do what the Eagles do. You put Banks in situations where he won't be cutting across the middle. I mean you're right when people that size take a straight shot (ex. Jackson concussion from Fletcher), but smart coaches plan to make sure that doesn't happen.

Why are we making Terrence Austin out to be the next All Pro stud? Dude is good, he's on the PS, and I think before it's all said and done he'll be activated. I don't know under what circumstances, but I have a feeling he won't be just rotting away on our PS forever.

As far as big receivers go, Gus, I'm going to have to disagree with you there. This league has become as much a small receiver league, if not moreso, as it is a big receiver league. Outside a handful of guys like Andre Johnon, Randy Moss, and Larry Fitz, there just aren't a lot of ballers at the WR position 6'3" and over. And for every guy over six feet, there's a Wes Welker, a Percy Harvin, Desean Jackson, Steve Smith (NYG and Panthers) and I'll throw in Santana Moss.

In terms of depth, well, that's the great debate every year on this board and every other fan forum around the league. Fans tend to feel satisfied if their team is stocked and loaded at every position with the next perennial All Pro just waiting in the wings. I submit our back-up situation isn't dire and is probably on par with most NFL rosters. I think our secondary, contrary to what most here feel, could be one of the best this year; in terms of starters and quality of depth. What team can honestly lose a starter at corner and not feel it? Let's see how the Jets fair without Revis and the Ravens without Ed Reed. I think we're more loaded in the secondary than we realize.

The way I look at it the offensive line was going to be a project no matter what following the career ending injuries to Chris Samuels and Randy Thomas. Then we bring in Shanny and a new crew, so we're in the middle of re-building along the front and I think it's going to take another year or two. I like we have in Trent Williams though. Casey Rabach ain't no Jeff Saturday, but he's pretty consistent and he doesn't miss a lot of games. So well see.

Not to mention Darren Sproles who plays RB at 5'6" 185lbs and runs between the tackles.

At first he did, but ended up signing with them a few days later.
