While I agree with Saden about our security issues I still think he is a pecker head and will be in jail soon.

FRPLG 12-06-2010, 03:20 PM Absolute nonsense. You want your nuclear launch facilities to be secure by design rather than try to redact their locations on published maps. Security through obscurity is lazy and quite frankly it's a very dangerous method of "security." If a graduate student (http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn/A23689-2003Jul7?language=printer) can get the information any determined individual can get it too. What kind of fcking security is that? Not nonsense. Maintaining obscurity as part of a security profile is fundamentally more secure. Is obscurity the only aspect? No. Is it the most important? Not even close. Is it worthless? No it isn't. Stop being a dope about it. How one can argue that obscurity doesn't offer security advantages is odd to me. saden1 12-06-2010, 03:36 PM Not nonsense. Stop being a dope about it. How one can argue that obscurity doesn't offer security advantages is odd to me. So what you're saying is "disclosure of the obscurity should not result in a compromise?" And if that's the case what's the problem with the leak? When it comes to national security and fighting terrorist who want to kill Americans or disrupt United State's infrastructure obscurity doesn't offer any advantages at all. Obscurity only provides false sense of security. Always assume they know what you know. This is real security and the only meaningful security. mlmpetert 12-10-2010, 08:27 PM I havent really been paying much attention to news or events like wiki leaks lately. I did read the majority of this thread in the begaining, and heard the stuff about Korea when the leak first broke but thats about it. Anyway i was wondering what Ron Paul thought about this whole mess, and honestly without knowing the substance stuff of the wikileaks i completely agree with his line of thoughts. I wonder if i knew more about the wikileak if i would think differently or not (or if i should). Number 1: Do the America People deserve know the truth regarding the ongoing wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen? Number 2: Could a larger question be how can an army private access so much secret information? Number 3: Why is the hostility directed at Assange, the publisher, and not at our governments failure to protect classified information? Number 4: Are we getting our moneys worth of the 80 Billion dollars per year spent on intelligence gathering? Number 5: Which has resulted in the greatest number of deaths: lying us into war or Wikileaks revelations or the release of the Pentagon Papers? Number 6: If Assange can be convicted of a crime for publishing information that he did not steal, what does this say about the future of the first amendment and the independence of the internet? Number 7: Could it be that the real reason for the near universal attacks on Wikileaks is more about secretly maintaining a seriously flawed foreign policy of empire than it is about national security? Number 8: Is there not a huge difference between releasing secret information to help the enemy in a time of declared war, which is treason, and the releasing of information to expose our government lies that promote secret wars, death and corruption? Number 9: Was it not once considered patriotic to stand up to our government when it is wrong?
