Oh, forgot, I would also like a few more exclamation points and question marks in this thread title.

I don't want anything in particular though I would happily accept anything...especially a tree planted in my name.

Yea, I know what kind of tree you want planted.

Hmmm, how much is the Bose upgrade total? I got my whip hooked up for the first time ever through a car audio joint earlier this year. Even if that upgrade is no more than $500, you can get a decent amp and a couple pairs of two-ways that would cost around that with installation. I'd guarantee it'd sound much better than Bose. After you pay your car off and you're interested in that kind of stuff, start looking into brands like Rockford Fosgate, Boston, Infinity and JL.

To be clear, I leased a new Altima this fall, I didn't buy it. I'm friends with the owner/GM of Chevy Chase Cars, so he hooked me up nicely. I don't remember how much total the audio package was, but I'm only paying $8/month extra. It's a 36 month lease, so I guess $288? I'd have to pull out all the paperwork to know the exact amount. Pretty good deal I'd say.

I'm very familiar with the other brands you mentioned. In my early 20's, I was really into car audio systems. I decked out my old 1999 Acura CL (It was 2001 at the time, so it was a sweet ride) with a Rockford Fostgate system. It really kicked.

Bose must have some deal with Nissan, because it's the only option for a "premium audio package."

My wife and I decided this year that rather than spend a bunch of money buying gifts to exchange, we're going to jointly spend the money on some upgrades to our place. A new TV stand, dining room table, and bedroom set are going to be our X-mas gifts to each other.

She and her twin sister have their birthday on the 23rd (Thursday), so I've got some stuff lined up for them. The wife wants a gift card to Victoria's Secret and a pair of running shoes (easy enough) and my sis-in-law is a total tech geek, so she's easy to please with a quick trip to Best Buy.

All I asked for is a few Blu-Rays and a new beard-trimmer (love sporting the scruff during winter). I bought two new TV's and a new car this year, so I'm more focused on giving this holiday season.

Stop playing...she said "jump" and you said "high dear?" Mine is trying to get rid of my perfectly fine bachelor furniture and "we" both decided "we" would.

As a family we are sponsoring a family that we will buy some presents for the kids and something for them to give to mom and dad. We also buy them food for a christmas dinner and other esentials. When we all chip in we spend around $400 to $500 and its only $50 per family to make these kids christmas a happy one.

That's awesome

All I want for Christmas is a healthy child. As many of you know, my wife is expecting our first child this spring, and it's been unfortunately a challenging pregnancy. Honestly it's very touch and go right now. I've already lost 5 relatives this year, not sure how much more loss I can take. So my parents, in-laws, etc. have asked me what I want for Christmas and I really can't think of a single thing. Really nothing matters other than this baby.

Bose are good but I rather have Polk any day when it comes to home theater.

Back in the day when I worked in Marriott sales , Bose was one of my clients. they built their own mountain to place their headquarters on top in Framingham Mass. It is so sick! They have all these different demo rooms set up and stuff.

About Bose - Directions to Bose (http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/about/directions/index.jsp)

For car audio also. Polk Audio made the best subs I ever had in a car (had JBL, Kenwood, Rockford Fosgate, many other brands). Polks hit the cleanest and hardest. The best were a pair of 10s in a bandpass box...people thought I had 15s. They were incredible.

Bose is good for home, but they're nothing special for cars. They're often installed as "premium" or upgraded factory systems. They usually have a small factory amp that allows them to sound better than the factory system. So yeah, they're a lot better than the base stock system, but I'd never upgrade to one. My wife's car had a Monsoon system from the factory, it thumped for a stock radio, but I've since replaced it with a Blaupunkt HU and Pioneer speakers (they're cheap) and it sounds better.

My favorite brands for car audio:

Subs - Polk Audio, prefer 10s for clarity, still plenty of bass
HU - Blaupunkt or Alpine, Eclipse is good too
Speakers - Infinity (have in my car) or Pioneer if on budget
Amps - Have had Alpines and Kenwood that were good, but the best bang-for-the-buck is California Amps made by Profile. They're very underrated and are awesome performers, especially for subs. Had one of these back in the day, still my favorite of all I owned. Was bulletproof too, survived 2 car accidents (nether my fault) and still kicked.

Now they look more like this:

And of course, I always did my own installs.

Wow...I hope the baby and mother are both safe for you too. Even in an ordinary pregnancy, it's still a nonstop worry until the baby is actually born. The protective parenting instincts kick in before birth.

Please keep us updated, hopefully with positive news.
