Rabach & Daniels could've easily been cut in last year's housekeeping from a personel (not cap) standpoint. Good guys but old. Vets w/some tenure on team are now Cooley, Fletch & Moss. Some of our FAs, Doughty & Heyer e.g., will be old-timers in terms of years w/the team if they re-sign.

Again, I think last year was Shanahan saying - "Okay, I'll give you guys one more shot while I find out who is willing to play the game MY way" and that the majority of the house cleaning is going to be done this year. I expect that the majority of the Gibbs/Zorn roster, with a few notable exceptions (Hall, Cooley, Fletcher, Moss) will be gone by the first game.

I think as a team, just getting rid of Fat Al and Rabach does wonders in the locker room, not to mention getting an actual body that can block out on the field as opposed to rabach.

Rabach was never a locker room problem, his release does wonders to the o-line.

Glad Roydell won't be getting in the way at practice. He was not making this team...let him go.

I think I like this thread more than all the other ones about all the other players we've signed in the past two days haha. It's nice to see that this coaching staff had the same opinion as us fans about the performances of these players. Rabach could've left at least a couple seasons ago. Phillip Daniels brought leadership to the team and I thought it was encouraging reading about his weightlifting exploits, but you can't fight age that much. Kemoeatu was clearly not the player we expected him to be, and Roydell Williams wouldn't even have made the roster last season if we had one of the guys we've signed in the past few days.

Phillip Daniels is the one that will be most for his leadership in the locker room, but the team is getting younger and I am not surprised he was released. Good luck to him.

Thank you P. Daniels and Rabach for all you gave! Both were consummate pros who got a little long in the tooth. The reason Rabach stuck around so long after his skills started to diminish is because what he had between his ears.

Watch Daniels come back mid-season
Seriously though, he's had quite the career. I mean not dynamic stats or anything like that but his longevity has been impressive. I don't think he's ready to call it quits yet
