I'm in Stafford, Va. and usually get local rock quary setting off dynamite. Feels very similar so when it started I was sitting at computer thinking great here we go again, but it didn't stop. Thats when I thought uh oh and ran to a door way then when house sounded like it was going to come down I ran to front door in case I had to get out.

So we felt the earthquake pretty up here in Baltimore. All the buildings were evacuated. Although I must say that I've felt stronger earthquakes before (I grew up in Ecuador), but it freaked me out a bit.

I'm sure this is nothing to the people on the west coast, but hey that's what happens when an area experiences something they typically don't get. I'm sure if L.A. or San Francisco got 5 inches of snow, the city would probably be shut down.

? 5 inches..... lol try 3 ft + of snow. lol.

The news did say though that had it hit Cali there probably would have been more damage because of the type of rock under the state vs. the rock all along the east coast and is why it was felt so far north.

im in richmond va 5th floor....scary as shit.....

Are you downtown? Im in glen allen on the top floor (3rd) and the shaking was pretty legit. Everyone evacuated our building except our office and the office next door, by the time we were like we need to get the f out of here it finally stoped.

Man it felt like some crazy shit. I was sitting here at my house, probably 100ish miles from the epicenter, and I thought it was a truck driving up the street, until my entire house was shaking. I grabbed my dog and got outside in about 5 seconds flat lol. My house was shaking for a good 10 seconds, it felt like it was going in slow mo.

That was wild. I was definitely scared there for about 30 seconds.

Given the forecast for Hurricane Irene, it looks like the DC area gets to deal with an earthquake and a hurricane in the same week.

Actually the hurricane will prob cause more damage given that it is supposed to rain before the hurricane gets here, so there will be some flooding. Although I heard that the National Cathedral had some damage b/c of the earthquake.
