Bowen is definitely worth keeping around for depth and his blitzing abilities. He seemed to be fitting in nicely in Williams' attacking style of D.

I loved Sam Shade because he was good at everything that Bowen is and people wanted to crucify me for saying that Ohelete shouldn't start. I like Bowen's energy and I would like him as a backup, I just don't think he should start. I think he could be like a way better version of Todd Franz and that would be fine.

BTW, Bowen isn't nearly as good as Sam Shade was.

Boy do I wish Bowen played the whole season. Everyone would probably love him. He looked like a great fit early in the season. Its too bad he got injured so early

I liked Sam Shade as well and him being better than Bowen may or may not be true. At this point, it doesn't really matter since Shade isn't playing for us anymore. Ryan Clark has had a season to step in and play, so with Clark having the experience, he may very well be ten times better than Bowen...but at the beginning of the season this wasn't true.

Either way, I expect both to get loads of playing time next season.

I have kinda rethought my position on the Bowen issue since I said he should be cut. I think if he would be willing to accept a lesser role he should stay. I just wish he could cover a lot better. IMO he covers about as well as Ade Jimoh. If you stretch the field on Bowen, you'll probably score.

If Clark and Bowen split time, that would be fine with me.

I have to say Clark should be the starter ahead of Bowen, yes Bowen showed a nice ability to blitz but william's will find other player's and other way's to blitz the QB he's not relegated to Bowen, Clark on the other hand is far better in the secondary and hit's probably just as hard as Bowen, the difference is Clark is usually in position to hit someone and deliver's where as Bowen is alway's 2 step's behind and 2 step's late to deliver the big hit, Stinkston didn't pull up because of Taylor, he pulled up because Clark was coming to blast him and he knew it.

Smoot will most likely be back...Vinnie said this AM on Elliot in the Morning that Smoot mentioned his words being taken out of context...and Smoot is very passionate about being a Redskin, so I don't see why he won't be back...

Pierce has been a hoss all year and will be rewarded justly...

Someone mentioned Jerry Porter...read this morning that he's looking for big bucks to stay in Oakland, so don't bank on him coming here (ESPN Sunday Roundup (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=1957573))

Bowen is a great safety...don't want him in coverage, keep Taylor back...I think you saw a lot of Taylor blitzing because he took Bowen's place...those 2 compliment each other very well...

With guys like Clemons, and the no-names that filled in, our pass rush got better and better as the season progressed. Next season, with a healthy LaVar, 3rd downs will be filled with high pressure from the front guys, while the secondary smothers the receivers...

Our most pressing need is a center...the tandem of Friedman and Raymer didn't get the job done, as they are better suited as backups...both are passed their prime. However, center is something you can usually get after Round 1, and I think grabbing of the stud DEs should be a priority in the First Round...
