Griffin's impact on the off-season FA/draft

We're not going to get nailed by Goodell for tampering with the draft or some crock of a charge for this, are we?

There's no tampering going on. Teams are allowed to visit with players before the draft.

The more I think about Kyle going down to Waco the more I like it.
Are there rules against Kyle sitting down with Art Briles?
If I was Kyle I would let Briles explain their offense in detail and exchange information about concepts form Baylor's offense that he can add to his offense.

One thing I would expect this year is for the offense to work a lot faster. I don't think it will be a lot different from a scheme/play perspective, but I think they can get in and out of the huddle a heck of a lot faster and put pressure on defenses that way.

It was very frustrating at times watching game time mismanagement.
From tempo, to the QB waiting for the playcall, to the slow paced 'hurry up' etc.

Yes, looking forward to watching the 2 minute drills in the future. Hadn't watched much of his actual (ie. uncut) game footage until recently -- I just watched the Baylor-Oklahoma (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcaJ-xqVwcc) game on youtube where RG3 was able to march down the field with 50 seconds on the clock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjYU9Q5xKo8&feature=relmfu)to win the game. Efficient, poised, and certainly didn't waste 30 seconds with each play call. Ability for the QB to run the ball greatly helps create chaos for the opposing defenses in the end of the game. Going for it all in the end-zone with 8 seconds left in the clock was... f@#$king awesome. Also I didn't know that there was another Robert Griffin on that football team.

But my real point is, it is awesome to see:
1) RG3 refuses to work out with the Colts. (and everyone else).
2) BUT RG3 agrees to meet a couple of times per week with Kyle Shanahan.


Stating the obvious -- RG3 definitely wants to come to us. The Colts fanbase mostly doesn't want him there, and he'd have a ton of pressure to succeed for the rest of his career if he went there. They're used to Peyton and expect success. SuperBowl would be the only true success, and losing in the playoffs would be a disappointment. Hard to be excited about negativity with high expectations. Conversely, the Redskins traded their franchise for him. Fans already love him here and hope to have him save the franchise. Most of us don't expect immediate success, and playoffs would be an accomplishment in the next 2 years. We do expect Superbowl wins - but probably in starting 3-5 years.

ALSO, the rookie payscale means both are paid about the same minus $200-300k per year. He could make MUCH MUCH more in endorsements here vs. Indianapolis. Here, he could immediately make millions just by showing up -- he already has 60k twitter fans, and hasn't even been drafted by a team. His socks would be worth more in DC than Indianapolis.

Back in the day, the Buffalo Bills no huddle offense would paralyze defenses. They ran this offense unlike any other team in the NFL. This was a big reason why they went to 4 straight Super Bowls in 1990, 1991, 1992, and 1993. They could exploit weaknesses in defenses simply because the defenses didn't and couldn't get the correct personnel on the field to challenge what Buffalo was doing on offense due to their lining up quickly after a play had just ended. I remember it was fun to watch.

More tempo is absolutely necessary for success and frankly I don't know what to make of the (total) lack of it we've witnessed so far. I guess I assumed it had more to do w/ coaching than QB because McNabb seemed only marginally better at getting the guys to the LOS than Rex. Beck isn't worth discussing here.

I mean for all the fun poked at Rex for being tubby it's not like he's so fat/winded as to be "catching his breath" between plays? Again it was just my assumption that Mike/Kyle haven't demanded fast-beat offense/2 minute drill, etc
