Agreed. I have always said the mind is by far the biggest weapon on the planet. Amazing how it can turn one man into a mass murder and another man into a brilliant scientist.

Small-molecule drug drives cancer cells to suicide : Nature News & Comment (http://www.nature.com/news/small-molecule-drug-drives-cancer-cells-to-suicide-1.12385)

Anybody who's suffered through cancer or had a loved one die from it, you'll be happy to see progress in the fight against cancer. Huge news I'd say.

I hope we see a cure in our lifetime, or at least a very significant advancement in treatment.

I was listening to Science Friday on NPR and there was talk about how caffeine's influence changes as you age. The gist I took from it was that as I age I get to drink more wine with dinner to counter balance the increased effects of my one cup of coffee. Report: Russian meteor blast injures at least 1,000 people - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/15/world/europe/russia-meteor-shower/index.html)

Pretty incredible watching this meteor blazing through the sky.

Just in time to see the big boy that's going to bypass us.

Asteroid DA14 is due to fly past Earth in a few hours. It's 50 metres across and will pass just 17,100 miles above our heads. Although there is no danger of a collision, it's still passing much closer than any other known asteroid and closer than many man made satellites.

NASA will be doing a live stream of the asteroid as it passes us by, so don't despair if it won't be visible from your area. The stream will begin at 19:00 GMT/14:00 EST/11:00 PST. You'll be able to watch it here:

Anxiety drugs may lead to behavior changes in fish. The bigger concern is that despite our best efforts many pharmaceuticals are making their way into our drinking water. At least tap is still cleaner than bottled water.
