He admits, in this interview, that he probably should have de-escalated the incident once he went back into the mall.

However, I think people need to realize the type of people he's dealing with. These aren't the type of people you can reason with. These aren't the type of people you can be rational or logical with. He has to speak to them in a manner they understand. They seem to understand two things in particular. Flexing and violence. This is how they communicate and what they'll respond to. If he acts weak around these guys, they'll eat him up. If he makes it known that their shit isn't flying anymore on his watch, they'll move on to another location. Listening to him off-camera gives you a clearer picture of who this guy is.

Scan some of these vids to see the stuff he deals with. This dude is working in a jungle. Sad he can't get help from the city of ATL.

No need to apologize DR. I think anybody with a half a brain can see that this isn't a typical black person. These are people that are products of dirt poor communities, with very little education, that is no doubt engulfed in violence and crime. It just so happens that downtown ATL is being engulfed with such people.

the bolded part is just wrong. mobs respond to flexing and violence, individuals respond to attention and respect. you take an unarmed women with two kids and just keep saying the same instruction repeatedly and you lose what chance of respect you might have. I guarantee that there was a scenario that didn't involve him getting into it with her, unless she was actively trying to steal something, which didn't seem to be the case. you said look at what he has to deal with, but some people bring that on themselves. I knew many an MP that generally escalated every ruckus. why, because they felt their word was god and when I tell you something you better do it.

also, I didn't see where they pulled a weapon of any sort on him, so him pulling his gun was more a sign of weakness and fear. heck at one point a lady in a yellow shirt talks the black shirt guy down, he leaves and the guard start to tell the lady to get out. Just crazy bad technique. once they were out he could have backed off, gotten another guard to come in, or get the police to drive by. worse case you come back and if they come back in you end up at the same point. further, he never gave expected consequences, ie I am asking you to leave(he did say that), if you choose not to leave than I am authorized to taser,you, or other methods of force to get you to leave. you can also bluff the atlanta pd is going to do drive by but if the rowdies know that's unlikely it would probably backfire.

^ it would be nice to think the world worked that way but unfortunately sometime is doesn't. i'm with nc on this one, there is abosolutly no reasoning with either of those women, espescially not in public. he might not have handled the situation perfectly, but for the situation he was in, i would say he handled himself quite well. while the women he tasered was not actually armed with a weapon, when she came at he she was throwing haymakers left and right, and that ain't your little sister thrown blows, that chick has thrown her hands around a few times.

all in all it is a horrible depiction of what goes on in certain areas in inner cities. some people don't want to think these things are actually taking place and do nothing, but turn a blind eye. i commend this guy for taking it on, might not be the perfect answer, but at least he is trying to clean up his community. and for what it's worth he appears to be trying to do it with words and not violence, at least in my opinion.

again, I dealt with drunk US Army enlisted in Germany. I knew MP's like this guy who would make situations worse, then get praise when they threw a couple lunkheads down, and I knew MP's that could walk in a confident calm manner and settle without any escalation. It's fine to say the guy handled it, but multiple times in both videos he forced the escalation. Watch the video where he drew the gun, a lady came and talked the one guy down and out of the entrance way, and as she was leaving, rather than saying thanks, or just letting it go he started badgering her. Rule number 1, 2, and 3 in deescalation, if a woman talks her man down, do not go after the woman, the man will come back harder and faster.
