Is Wynn worth it?

This is another question of intangibles. Just as how we were talking about just "letting Coles walk" we cannot cut people who want to help the team out. A move like that would make everyone nervous and want either A) big fat contracts or B) big fat signing bonuses or both.

good point

Just to elaborate, Wynn isn't a 'sexy' player, but he's got a lot of the attributes a Gibbs' coached team looks for. He's a hard worker on and off the field, and he's a maximum effort guy who's going to bust his butt for you on every play.

We could do better, but we could certainly do a lot worse than Wynn.

how about giving Daniels a chance? He might not be the sack machine everyone wants, but if he can stay healthy I think he could possibly give us 8-10 sacks.

Daniels is a great player when Healthy but that has yet to be seen. Daniels played 5 games last year with a total of 4 tackles. He has a hell of a bullrush no doubt but other than him............who do we have?? I just want more sacks!!

I think that we address WR needs first then worry about the DE. I've said it once and I'll say it again, we were #3 in D last year. (Granted, we COULD use more sacks)

i think wide reciever is first then o-line then d-line( saying that we keep smoot) and then maybe TE but royal played better.

For the offensive line is their any good centers on the market? we got good talent on the line but two players hurt it pretty bad. dockery and expecially raymer may need to be replaced, then i would say the d-line but our pass rush will improve next year with arrington and bowen and that means turnovers. Does anyone else feel we need another TE i mean kozlowski and royal, royal performed the last few weeks.

Need a replacement for Cory Raymer? Check the homeless shelter. There has to be someone on the street you can pick up that can snap a ball then actually put a hand on his guy before he jumps up in the passing lane.

I dislike that in today's NFL, a DE's value is mostly measured by how many sacks he gets.
High price pass rush DE like Simeon Rice and Jevon Kearse usually get knocked on their ass on run plays. Where is that stat? Where is the stat of how many times a pass rush happy DE takes himself out of a run play by taking a wide path to the QB and missing his gap responsibility and the Rb all together?
The fact is the sack stat is a high glory high money stat. Sacks ARE very important and the mark of a good defense, but it should not be the MAIN measuring stick of a DE.
It amazes me that out of the top 10 sack leaders in the NFL in 2005 regular season: only one (Dwight Feeney was on a superbowl contender and did well in the playoffs), although their defense was their weakness. Proof that having a high sack DE is over rated?

NFL Top 10 Sack Leaders in 2005 regular Season
1 Dwight Freeney IND 16
2 Bertrand Berry ARI 14.5
3 Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila GB
4 Patrick Kerney ATL 13
5 Simeon Rice TB 12
6 Kevin Williams MIN 12
7 James Hall DET 11.5
8 Rod Coleman ATL 11.5
9 Shaun Ellis NYJ 11
10 Lance Johnstone MIN 11

Daseal:

Your views on how the Skins might replace Cory Raymer lack the milk of human kindness. I love that.

I think Daseal is trying out for the role of Curmudgeon Jr.

I think Daseal secured that role long ago
