Is Wynn worth it?wbecker999 02-25-2005, 01:23 AM 2005 salary $ 4,083 Release fee $ 1,750 I say cut him ,Williams can get somebody to perform. Daseal 02-25-2005, 01:27 AM The man JUST restructured to help us out! Wynn has played solid every single year. He's not a speed rusher on the end but he's very solid and we need to try to keep him. I don't think our Dline is in need of any help right now - we have bigger priorities. Sheriff Gonna Getcha 02-25-2005, 01:43 AM Wynn's cap figure is somewhat ridiculous. But, as Daseal pointed out, the guy just did restructure. I don't think it sends a good message to renegotiate a guy's deal and then cut him. Also, he is a solid run-stuffer. Third, good defensive ends are among the league's highest paid players. Finally, he seems to be a good "team guy;" he never bitches and seems to want to be here. Big C 02-25-2005, 02:03 AM are u sure thats his salary this year after the restructure? drew54 02-25-2005, 03:30 AM Yeah he is one of the many that we are overpaying. Solid player, even better now that GW is here, but still over paid. Schneed10 02-25-2005, 08:20 AM Since Wynn just restructured, if you cut him now his cap hit in 2005 would be bigger by cutting him than it would by keeping him. You'd save no cap space. The figures previously posted on the opening message in the thread are pre-restructure figures. Now that he's restructured, the whole situation changes. MTK 02-25-2005, 08:22 AM He's not going anywhere. SkinsRock 02-25-2005, 08:52 AM Probably at least half the players in the NFL are overpaid....NOT just on the Redskins. Wynn isn't great, but he has been a solid player that wants to be here and seems to be a good locker room presence... i.e. "a core Redskin" (core players don't have to be "stars"). As Matty said, he's not going anywhere. Bozzy 02-25-2005, 08:53 AM I don't care if we don't sign any of our "names", the defense proved that we can win with the no-namers. Betcha the Offense is the same way. SkinsRock 02-25-2005, 09:16 AM I don't care if we don't sign any of our "names", the defense proved that we can win with the no-namers. Betcha the Offense is the same way. And that's why they will be alright. That's how the Patriots are, and that's exactly why they remind me of Gibbs Skins of old. Teams built of "no-name" players that become "stars" by their play, not because they were big names already. |
