Redskins pick Kai Forbath from their kicker tryout | ProFootballTalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/10/09/redskins-pick-kai-forbath-from-their-kicker-tryout/)
This I don't like:
Known for his strong leg, Forbath has done stints with the Cowboys and Buccaneers.
I guess everyone should be deserving of 3 or 4 chances but why are we the only team that can't find players when we need them? rather decent players. Apparently they couldn't find a Rookie out there just sitting waiting to be picked up or a CFL player thats been booming kicks.
No we get retreads. Safety, CB, OL (Brown), kicker, QB (Grossman, McNabb, Collins, Beck).

Sure, but tons of other teams have the same thing happen too. Basically do you want to fill a hole with a career backup rookie (maybe young?) or a solid vet while you wait to fill those holes in the draft or FA?
For me, I'd rather go solid vet until we can fill the hole. How often have we brought in a young discarded player that suddenly becomes awesome? Doesn't happen often for many teams unfortunately.
How is he a retread when he hasn't kicked in a regular season game yet?

Stand corrected Cundiff was a retread. But Forbath the new guy has seen time with the Bucs and Cowboys. One would think if he was any good .... wouldn't they have kept him? Beck is a similar example for me... if he was any good wouldn't the 3 other teams prior to us have kept him?

Well we have struck out on both of those. Gano was your young career backup, and Cundiff was the "solid vet". yeah.

The Cowboys actually kept this kid on IR the whole year. He then tried out for the Bucs and really it was Connor Barth's job to lose which he didn't. So this kid essentially just hasn't had the opportunity.
Am I the only person that knows Google exists? Just curious.

It happens and it happens a lot. I think our issue is that we either stick with people too long, get gunshy and the suddenly cut someone promising after a miss here and there. Kickers are a tough commodity to come by, hence the reason they stay with their current teams.

Dallas Signed him and put him on injured reserve for the season.....the next season jones cut him after making a advertising request and he refused.
Tampa Bay signed him and he didnt miss during the preseason but they have a Kicker who has hit 23 in a row.......So he is getting his chance! and hopefully he will be here for awhile!! Accurate at 50 +!!

Correct me if I'm wrong: It seems like unless his name is Janikowski, a kicker typically goes from team to team until he gets enough experience and catches fire somewhere.
(Hoping Korbath's time is now.)
