before the lottery, that was a pretty prevalent theory...people tanking to get the best player. Basketball adds 1, maybe 2 true impact players a year. Why did they start the lottery, too shake it up?

I was talking specifically about the Spurs

How'd you come up with that theory?

This is why I stopped listening to the junkies. I remember them saying "the lottery is stupid, it was made because the spurs tanked their season to get Tim Duncan" so I just believed it and never checked it.

Wasn't David Robinson out for that year they went so bad to get that draft pick for Tim.

That is correct. I think others were out as well as him. It was a case of bad/good luck.

I think the current lottery system in place is more because of the rockets than anything
They got Sampson, and from what I remember without googling it they tanked that season and got Hakeem
I think it was Hakeem but it could have been Sampson they won the pick on a coin flip

I hope its either him or Oladipo.

Oladipo's upside is terrific... but he's 6'4" and that's 2-guard territory (where Beal is). If the workouts play out a certain way, Oladipo may start rising and we may be able to trade down one or two spots and still nab Porter. Bennett is another name to watch out for.

We aren't getting Oladipo, since we have Beal. Its between Porter and Bennett. If Nerlens falls we must take him, but I don't see that happening. I think we should draft Bennett, I was impressed with him. I wasn't impressed with Porter, he was awful in both the Big East and NCAA Tournaments.

The entire Hoyas squad was awful in the sole NCAA game against FGCU. It was a weird matchup they hadn't seen in the Big East before and Dunk City threw everyone off their game. Porter was the Big East player of the year and Jim Boeheim calls him the most complete player (http://www.csnwashington.com/ncaa/boeheim-porter-big-easts-all-around-best-ever) to come out of the conference... ever. I'm deathly afraid of the Cavs taking him first overall.

I like Bennett's post game offensively, but he has no concept of defensive fundamentals.

Nor does the NBA
