Around the NFL ... Week 13 edition12thMan 12-03-2012, 10:02 AM Desean is really good. Does seem a tad overrated to me, but yeah, I'd take him here. NC_Skins 12-03-2012, 10:17 AM no, but put him at returner and run the endarounds that Banks does and I bet his numbers would go back up. As for declining the last two years, one was a contract situation, then this year with injuries, and the state of the eagles in general, hard to fault Jackson alone. It's not just the raw number, it's the YPC and TDs and even the punt returns that you all are gushing over. DeSean Jackson: Career Stats at NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/player/deseanjackson/1581/careerstats) Receiving: 2012- 15.6 average per catch 2011- 16.6 average per catch 2010- 22.5 average per catch Receiving TDs: 2012- 2 2011- 4 2010- 6 2009- 9 Punt Return: 2012- -3.0 (this is a negative number, but he had one punt return this year) 2011- 6.7 average 2010- 11.6 average 2009- 15.2 average Seems to me he checked out long ago. htownskinfan 12-03-2012, 10:17 AM All the talk on Espn this morning is how great Luck is.RG3 needs to have a big game tonight for any chance at rookie of the year,IMO,plus we need to win Theyre saying Luck has 5 4th qtr comebacks, blah blah blah. Not caring that much about his turnover ratio 12thMan 12-03-2012, 10:20 AM Quite possible we're seeing the Magic, Jordan, Bird era of QBs. skinsfan69 12-03-2012, 10:24 AM It's not just the raw number, it's the YPC and TDs and even the punt returns that you all are gushing over. Anyone who knows anything about football would know Jackson is a good football player. I don't care about his stats, the guy can play. Is he a great player? No. Probably like a lot of players/coaches in Philly, he would benefit from a change of scenery. SFREDSKIN 12-03-2012, 10:27 AM All the talk on Espn this morning is how great Luck is.RG3 needs to have a big game tonight for any chance at rookie of the year,IMO,plus we need to win Theyre saying Luck has 5 4th qtr comebacks, blah blah blah. Not caring that much about his turnover ratio My question is how many of those turnovers were cause by a WR tipping the ball? The main thing is he overcame them somehow to have 5 4th quarter comebacks. JoeRedskin 12-03-2012, 10:28 AM I agree the D. Jax would be an upgrade over Banks - but that's just not setting the bar very high. I don't think he is an upgrade - for this offense - over Garcon, Morgan or Moss (Okay, maybe Moss - but do you think DJ would come here to be WR3/PR when plenty of other teams (Cleveland, SD, Jax, Seattle) would pay him to be a WR1/2?). We need blocking WR's in this offense and PG and JM fit the bill well. Throw in his injury history and I am just not impressed. Don't get me wrong, I think Jackson is a good WR - not as good as he thinks he is and not worth what the Eagles paid him. I just don't see him being a good fit here for what they would have to pay him. Again, I think we have cheaper solid quality guys down the depth chart. We have to many other holes to pay him what he would want and to be our slot reciever/PR. CrustyRedskin 12-03-2012, 10:33 AM Ed Reed of Baltimore Ravens says 'powder puff' football making NFL worse - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/8704072/ed-reed-baltimore-ravens-says-powder-puff-football-making-nfl-worse) The hit on Sydney Rice wasnt Powder Puff. But I understand where hes coming from. JoeRedskin 12-03-2012, 10:40 AM My question is how many of those turnovers were cause by a WR tipping the ball? The main thing is he overcame them somehow to have 5 4th quarter comebacks. He may have a lot of turnovers, but he also has his team in the play-offs. Not denigrating RGIII in any way, my man-crush is full on. At the same time, Luck is no slouch and has been carrying the Colts in the same way RGIII has carried the Skins. A break here or there for either and the records of the two teams could easily be reversed. Bottom line in this league and, particularly for QB's, is wins. Luck may turn the ball over occasionally, but he wins. Can't take that away from him. I, for one, would love to see a regularly scheduled Luck v. Griffin Superbowl. Do that, and both make it to the HOF. JoeRedskin 12-03-2012, 10:43 AM As an aside, can you imagine RGIII with a defense comparable to Seattle's? We would be 12-0. I deeply envy their PED taking CB's. |
