shallyshal 03-03-2005, 06:05 PM i want to see it official before i believe it... but...
bell has been injury prone for much of his career. he is also looking to sign a mega contract.
better to look at:
hartwell- almost made the raven's fans forget lewis when he was out
fields- similar to pierce. smart, mobile and tough
ruff- underrated player at san diego
as for barnes.. every time he was in, it seemed he got blown up taking on the blockers. better to give clifton smith, who is a true inside backer and weighs over 250, the chance at the position
if barrow is indeed gone, they already have the replacement in mind. he might even be onthe way to redskin park as we speak...
cpayne5 03-03-2005, 06:06 PM This is BAD news............I guess Pierce didn't mean what he said about being a Redskin.................. I trust Coach Williams has a plan to replace him.......
IN COACH WILLIAMS I TRUST!
No, I think his actions, combined with what coach Gibbs has said, are 100% consistent to what has been said in the past.
He said that Washington was his first choice and he would give the Skins the chance to match any offer. Gibbs said they've gone as far as they can.
I don't really see where Pierce's actions are contradictory at all to his actions.
jdlea 03-03-2005, 06:08 PM Kendrell Bell played in a 3-4 system. Big jump to MLB of 4-3.
No different from the jump Ed Hartwell would have to make, he too was in the 3-4. Not to mention he played along side Ray Lewis.
downtown4life 03-03-2005, 06:19 PM Hey Guys Im new here, Ive been on this site a lot, maybe 20 times a day at work. I just saw that David Patten was supposed to visit Redskins Park today, dont quite know how to do the links but it was in the washington times. If Patten signs and we can keep coles or get moss, I think we would be set, Patten definitely has better hands then Gardner

welcome to the forum. I like us getting Patten he moves the sticks and knows how to win.
I'm sorry to see barrow go, I hope he's just a system linebacker like Trotter and then comes back when he get's released. Bell would be an upgrade, Hartwell is looking for a pay day. what about shifting Washington to middle and signing Ian Gold or something... Just a thought
downtown4life 03-03-2005, 07:18 PM What do youll think about going after Pollard, I think our defense it ok, make some minor changes, i think williams can put anyone in there at MLB if they keep blitzing from all over. I think its safe to go after Patten, hes a vet, team player, and can teach the young guys mostly jacobs and hopefully mike williams how to get better. With jansen coming back, samuels, thomas and now rabach Im thinking we will see more 64 yd runs from Portis like his first touch as a skin. Give ramsey patten and moss and williams and im telling you gibbs will let it fly, something everyone has been wanting
azskinsfan2 03-03-2005, 07:28 PM I can't believe they let Pierce get away, and to an NFC East team no less. I know it will come back to haunt us. We give Samuels (who hasn't been that great the last two seasons) the highest signing bonus in Redskins history, but let Pierce go to the Giants!!! Pierce led the team in tackles last season and even according to Coach Williams, was calling the plays before Coach finished signaling them in. He will definitely be missed.
Why would we bring in another LB with a history of injuries when we brought in Barrow last year and he missed the entire season!!! We need someone that will be there all year. If they've actually cut Barrow, I'm sure they do have someone already in mind (I sure hope so!!!)
So much for buying my new Pierce jersey!!!!!!!!!

In his defense, I have heard that he gave the Skins' an equal chance to match the Giants offer, and we declined. I think we declined in our best interests financially, and he took the pay-day he desrved. No hard feelings towards him for that, he was a man of his word and gave us a chance.
terps and skins 03-03-2005, 08:24 PM if this rumor is true about barrow being cut...im not too sold on bell but hartwell would be very nice...whoever is cheaper
