From Peter King's MMQ:

Didn't like: Washington, even with a smart guy like Joe Gibbs running the show, still seems like a team lurching from one cap mess to the next. Other than Peyton Manning, no NFL player will make as much cash in 2004. Two years ago, Laveranues Coles was the cat's meow. Now he's just another $9.3 million cap mess to clean up. I noticed the Redskins seemed to be congratulating themselves on having Santana Moss and David Patten starting at receiver in 2005. Why? Moss was a perennial disappointment with the Jets; how will 'Skins fans react the first time he runs out of bounds away from contact instead of trying to make four more yards? Patten was the fourth receiver on a Patriots' team with no receiving star. Lord help Patrick Ramsey.

Is he right? I think he makes some good points and am sorry to say that I think he is correct. Fortunately, we have the draft to address the WR corps.

I won't say he's right until I watch those receivers play in '05. From fans of both teams, they seemed to have an overall very positive outlook on these receivers. Like I said before, I don't mind Moss running out of bounce to avoid contact (Lord knows I have seen Rice over his career do the same thing), as long as he makes the first down before he runs out. Sometimes being too greedy gets ya nowhere!

Regardless of what the Skins do, Peter King will always criticize them. We're talking about the guy who think Art Monk doesn't deserve to be in the HOF.

I could careless about what he thinks. Fat bastard.

I don't see the Skins congratulating themsleves on anything. Nor does it appear that Patten will necessarily be starter. There is something to be said for having depth which apparently escapes that turd sandwhich King.

Hmm, sounds like Peter King has something against Washington receivers. He's the one that is behind the whole 'keep Monk out of the Hall' bandwagon.

That being said, I think that Patten, Moss, Jacobs, & Thrash can be successful if we can get them the ball.

Patten's 3 ring's are meaningless? Apparently because the Pat's talent is spread out amoungst many no one player is any good? Santana is the first WR in the history of the NFL to run out of bound's instead of going head on with an big angry saftey, it's not like the Ram reciever's aren't taught to do that very thing better to run and duck to live and play another day, these reciever's no when they have to get an extra yard, and when they don't, apparently King missed Moss's punt return in the playoff's which should have put the Jet's in the championship game I didn't see him run out of bound's on that one oh and by the way Cole's was home watching with his suspect toe, we all know Patten isn't a star but for the price, speed, experience, and attitude he bring's it was an excellent signing. Santana may not be Randy but he can be an outstanding player for us, but until we go out and prove otherwise everyone is going to knock us, NOBODY LIKES SNYDER!

Patten was second on the Pats in receptions, led the team in YPC, and led the team in TD receptions...how does that make him the fourth receiver? Maybe on paper on the depth chart he was, but production wise he certainly wasn't

Coles wanted out; they moved him and got something in return. Not an optimal situation, obviously--in the best case, Coles WANTS to be here--but given Coles wanted out and Gibbs wants dedicated skins, it's the best we could do. The cap hit hurts right now, but it hits all at once, so we're done with it (or so I believe).

As for Moss, yeah, I think Coles--a happy and healthy Coles, that is--is better. But Moss isn't chopped liver and Coles wasn't healthy or happy. Patten is cheap and tough, and he's by all accounts a hard working guy. We didn't overpay for a questionable talent like Burress, and our good friend Peter King thinks we blew it? You know damn well that if we'd spent the big bucks, he'd be writng about Snyder and Deion, etc, etc. F*** him and that fat POS Pastabelly.

Man, I hate Peter King. It's like a religion. I've devoted my life to hating Peter King.

Offiss, lets not forget about another WR that tends to "run away from contact". Uhh Marvin Harrison anyone?
