I think AJ Smith the talent evaluator is very good at his job. AJ Smith the egomaniac GM is not very good at his job. I'm glad we got evaluator portion of the deal.

Good way of putting it.

I think AJ Smith is a good addition. And although he was definitely a big reason that the Chargers went from the top young roster in the league to talent depleted in the last four years, he was also a large reason why they had so much talent to begin with.

The only thing that makes me nervous is that he becomes the most qualified general manager type in the building the day he walks through the door, which could effect the role of others in the organization, such as Morrocco Brown. Advisor is such a general title that it's hard to tell what he will be actually doing here.

Nervousness aside, the Redskins had to do something to improve their pro talent evaluation. This could certainly help that.

Yep, this should be the only concern. Otherwise great addition.

This guy was the chargers gm that got fired. He was a jerk and was the guy toying with vincent jackson during that whole spectacle. He allowed many of his good players walk because he was cheap and a jerk. He also screwed over tomlinson at the end of his career in SD.

If you're a GM long enough in the NFL you're probably going to get fired. That's the nature of the business. Bruce Allen has been fired twice. I'd also say that the ownership had a role in players walking too. Smith did draft several good players. Smith knows the business and can scout players. This is a good move by the front office.

I'm not worried about AJ Smith's ability to evaluate talent. He's proven that he has a good eye for talent already. I just hope that his attitude doesn't override his opinions. Luckily he'll be in a role here where he won't get to make big decisions like who goes.

^^ LOLOL

Yes, that is a black mark against him. At the same time, I think it goes more toward his desire for control - he needed someone who be his lackey and NT fits that bill.

Just keep Smith away from any personnel/management decisions and keep him evaluating player talent and he will be a fine addition.
