A.J. Smith Expected to Join Redskins Front Office As AdvisorThat Guy 02-26-2013, 09:44 PM good move if it happens. i can't dog it. skinsguy 02-27-2013, 02:11 PM Sounds good to me! Any chance at improvement of talent evaluation is OK with me. GMScud 03-01-2013, 11:55 AM HTTR24-7.com @HTTR24_7 @SkinsOrNuthin 15 drafted Pro bowlers since 2003.. More Than anyone, including the Patriots. Not sure why Skins fans (especially on twitter) are flipping out about this.(not you in particular CR, just in general) AJ Smith is a very good talent evaluator. His main problem was his ego and bullheadedness with his players. He let quality talent walk away from the team without getting anything in return. We really don't know if some of this centered around San Diego having a cheap ass owner that didn't want to spend money. I wouldn't go as far as to put Vinny and Smith in the same category at all. Vinny had a low self esteem issue, Smith has a high self esteem issue. I don't give a shit what anybody says...this is a hell of a resume. San Diego Chargers: A.J. Smith (http://www.chargers.com/team/staff/a-j-smith/6c7c44d5-f76e-471a-85c8-439dfee97abb) I agree, solid resume. His time in San Diego was definitely marred by his bullheadedness at times, but in an advisory role here, Mike and Bruce can get all of his good and veto/shut down any of his bad. Hopefully that's how it plays out. MTK 03-01-2013, 12:36 PM The thing I love about this Aj smith hiring is that if there's a player or two whom is available and mike likes one guy and Bruce likes the other AJ is there to say "___ is the better player, get him over ____" And in the end Mike still does what Mike wants regardless of what Bruce or AJ thinks. That's a little bit more worrisome... does this mean he now has some authority with regard to contract negotiations? MTK 03-06-2013, 12:40 PM That's a little bit more worrisome... does this mean he now has some authority with regard to contract negotiations? Highly doubt it. Allen handles that mostly, and Shanahan has the final say over everything. "Executive" sounds better than "advisor" is all. skinsfaninok 03-06-2013, 12:57 PM Even if he took over some control of players I wouldn't mind.. guy built a machine in SD warriorzpath 03-06-2013, 02:54 PM 2 positives with this hire - Another proven talent evaluator and seeker. And someone who can take some responsibilities from Shanahan to free him up. One negative is his relationships with the people he works with. He may need to be babysat a little- especially in the beginning. warriorzpath 03-06-2013, 03:07 PM Between smith and shanahan's mid to late round picks, the redskins should feel pretty confident with any rb picked up in the draft. |
