New helmet conatct rule/proposal...I agree with Emmit Smith.

Would this rule involve just running backs or any player running the ball? I'm with everyone else; this is a crazy rule.

my understanding is the new rule requires flags, then when the ball carrier is about to run past an opposing player, he has to stop, ask if he may pass, then the defender has to ask if he can grab the flag. After 2 out of 3 rock paper scissor spock rounds, the winner carries on. Personally I think this will lengthen the games excessively.

I have a different understanding... instead of a football there will be a balloon, players will be outfitted with bras and tinfoil hats, and there will be no more tackling, instead they will give hugs and compliments to each other. I already started a marketing tool of gooey happiness that lives within all men that will improve your game. I am going to market it as a sports drink.

I've got no problem with that.

Maybe we should have Taylor Swift play all the safety and linebacker positions and she could proclaim that you wil never ever ever hit me with your helmet.

When you lower your shoulder your head lowers at the same time unless you have a neck like Jim Carrey.

Jeff Fisher seems to think it is reasonable:

“The ballcarrier is still going to be permitted to lower his shoulder, and the head is also going to come down to protect the football,” Fisher said. “We’re not taking that part of the run out of the game. What we’re saying is, in space, one-on-one, head-up, we’re not going to allow you to load up and use the crown of your helmet. It’s an obvious thing.”

Hard to imagine this rule actually passing.
