Need Help Purchasing A LaptopHog1 07-18-2013, 11:42 AM Greetings, Just bought the wife a new Laptop for work. Any good suggestions for Virus and Spyware control? Monkeydad 07-18-2013, 11:45 AM I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials (free download) for a couple of years and it's great. Previously I used AVG Free and Avast but they can occasionally be buggy and I don't like all of the alerts. They used to be much better than they are now. The MS product just works...and you never have to notice it. Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/security-essentials-download) I see absolutely no reason to overpay (annually) for something like Norton or McAfee. Hog1 07-18-2013, 06:38 PM Thanx Man...... RedskinRat 07-18-2013, 07:12 PM This would be a useful resource (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2372364,00.asp) Three products share the Editor's Choice honor for best overall antivirus: Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2013$39.95 at BitDefender, Norton AntiVirus (2013)$58.88 at Lenovo, and Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2013$19.99 at Webroot. Norton and Webroot tied for second place in my malware removal test, with 6.6 points. Bitdefender, with 6.4 points, wasn't far behind. I use and recommend Norton 360. | |
