Broncos vs Skins Post Game Thread

He's really struggling at times this yr, that no practice or PS really effected his play IMO. I like the deep shot at times but defenses know who our deep guy is, basically ROBINSON. So they shut that down, last week against CHI 2 guys were back there it was just a great throw

At this point with 8-9 weeks of practice and playing you'd think he could hit wide open guys. That has nothing to do with not having an off season. He's missing easy ass throws and when he makes an accurate throw, his wr's let him down.

If Rex Grossman played QB yesterday, we're still probably going to lose, but he's not going to miss wide open guys like RG3 is doing. He should be on a very short leash next week.

This loss bothered me a lot more than I thought it would. I am really bummed out about the way it happened. In particular, I'll never understand why we went away from the run in this game. How could that happen after we doninated them with the run in the first half and then took a two touchdown lead in the 3rd Quarter?

When we closed the half with a time-consuming 95-yard TD drive featuring a dominating rushing attack, I thought that was the veritable model of how to beat the Broncos. There, on the sidelines, sat the great Petyon Manning and the rest of the Broncos' explosive offense - right where we wanted them. By the time the Broncos got the ball back, there were only seconds left in the half and they did a kneel down to end the half. That was perfect!

Then, things got even better in the second half when the D rose up and provided us with a two touchdown lead! At that point, I could envision the Skins shoving the ball down the Broncos throats by continuing to run the ball - shades of Joe Gibbs, John Riggins, and The Hogs. I had that grand old feeling again!

Then, out of the blue, no more rushing. I couldn't and don't and will never understand how Kyle Shanahan could have abandoned the running game when it was clearly the key to winning the game!

Well, the bottom line is that I've lost faith Kyle Shanahan and, by extension, Mike Shanahan. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be surprised if Dan Snyder allows Mike to finish out his contract or that Mike would continue to keep his own son Kyle employed as OC. Regardless, I'll continue to support the Skins. But I tell you now, fellow Redskins fans, we're going to suffer because of it.

D. Hall is basically team MVP so far this year. Playing as well as any corner in the league.

But was Kyle going to adjust to quick read, 3 step drops? of course not. Screen game or draws? Of course not. Or how about just stick with running the ball

Redskins basically seem to think if it is working they are going to try to stop it so do something else, and if it doesn't work they would never think you would be daring to do it again so why not keep doing the same thing that has not worked.

I don't understand this desire by certain coaches to pass the ball when they have a good running game. Baltimore is a good example of a team that has a good running game, yet insists on being a pass first team.

I also don't understand why our coaches don't adapt to the reality that we have a subpar offensive line. They are easily right now our worst unit on the team.

Yeah Kyle sucks at play calling period. He literally is never consistent and his plays are very predictable. Also I'm beyond tired of this WR in the backfield shit.

It's this stupid mentality of "putting the ball away by throwing a deep bomb". I'm sick of this stupid play calling. I'm sick of seeing the team on a 2nd or 3rd short situation and throwing a 30 yd pass inaccurately b/c RG3 is running for his life, he's throwing into double coverage, or it is overthrown by 10 yds.

If you gash them enough with the run, the safeties will come up to try to stop it. Then, you can hit them with the bomb. If they never stop the run, then you never stop running. Joe Gibbs 101.

I do think people are overblowing the fact that the Redskins "went away from the run." I know Aikman made a critical comment about it on the broadcast in (I think) the third quarter, and then a graphic showed on the screen that Morris had 17 carries, which is a LOT. And that doesn't count how many carries Helu had.

Because the Redskins weren't going to be able to win yesterday without finding something to lean on in the passing game, it seems shortsighted to criticize them attempting to find the passing game. I'm not sure here if anyone thinks that the Redskins were going to be able to grind out that win up seven, but I think that's pretty far from the truth. Up 11 or 14? There's a chance.

It's a lot more frustrating because two quarterbacks and multiple critical throws to Aldrick Robinson and Santana Moss later, the passing game was still ineffective. And I think Kyle Shanahan deserves a lot of blame for how ineffective it was against a team that can not cover anyone.

More to the actual point, my worry level on Griffin now is somewhere between 5-10%. Still very low, but not that far from serious. They have not done a good job in his development. To be fair, that knee injury hurts his development, a lot. But even considering this a lost offseason, he's nowhere near where he should be. We're close to the point where I would consider a coaching change exclusively because of RG3's lack of development, independent of the 23-32 record.
