1.pretty solid move, just hoping we can add another solid cornerback than that would give us three solid corners, hope that,s the plan 2.does anybody think we might D.hall to a safety pos.?
This would seriously piss me off if we did this. Why the f*ck would we risk a transition like this for a position that has struggled immensely for years. Thats a dumb effing plan imo.
Your team kinda has to have a solid secondary to begin with in order to pull off that move. At least have a proven player at the other other Safety position in order to mitigate the obvious mistakes to come. We have neither at this point.
Expect the secondary to further struggle if this occurs and safety doesnt play to Hall strengths.
Hall definitely redeemed himself this past year. Played probably the best he ever has as a professional - and the fact that he's a former Hokie alumni makes me happy as well! :)
It's funny though, just about a year or two ago, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who wanted Hall back on the team.
he's been our best corner for years.. I've stuck by the guy thru his ups and downs.. especially over the past couple years cuz we frankly have had no other choice at CB.. dude can play, and shut down #1's usually but he can be a risk taker and struggle with consistency.. he's still a #1 CB in this league but sadly only looks as great as pour defense in the end.

I like re-signing him, but I'm also worried about D-hall going back to being a shitty CB once he's got paid. His best year of his career was last year. The one where he was being paid peanuts. In fact, the past 1-1/2 years are the best of his career in terms of playing the CB position like it should.
I share this concern. It does seem like the financial commitment is not too great, which makes it tolerable. But having Hall as one of our starting CBs doesn't make me think "all star secondary".
But if it leaves room for an impact signing at safety, then I'm on board. The guaranteed $ is the key part in determining how much room this takes up.

NFL.com is reporting 4 yrs, $17 mil, $5.25 guaranteed, $3.25 of it in a signing bonus. That's not bad at all from a cap perspective. That's pretty easily managed past 2014.

IMO a very team friendly deal, he's made enough money and just wants to play for his hometown team. DH I'm buying your JERSEY.

seems to be a team friendly deal re the guaranteed money so that makes me happy.
i used to hate hall bc of the high completion percentage against him and his taking late/cheap shots every now and then but .....
i love his commitment to the team and fans. really do.
i also love the fact he started sticking in nose in hard direct hits and stopped doing the deion sander's ohhhh-layyyy move.
i would like hall to be our no 2, amerson no 3 and we sign a no 1 corner but ... having 2 no 2 ability corners in hall and amerson on the cheap isnt such a bad situation.
i used to be a hall hater but over the past few years the man has really grown on me in his maturity and play.. i like him.

Very fair deal for both sides.
i'm liking the continuity aspect of our defense so far this off-season, coaches included.. even tho haslett really makes me scratch my head sometimes.. players seem to have his back so.. this move points to more team friendly and 'positive direction' moves going forward IMO.
