In terms of cap consequences Carriker is the only big name. (Per the cap sheets)

Carriker release saves 3.2 in cap space.
Rocca = 1.2M
Quinn = .7M
Jamison, Megget = ~.5 each.

Net savings ~6M, though I am sure that it isn't that simple.

Tandler pegged current cap room nearly $21.5 mil.

It almost is. Just add back about $500K each for the next 5 guys moving back into the top 51. So net cap room cleared is about $3.6M.

Likewise, if we sign another player for $1.5M, he bumps someone out of the top 51. So subtract $500K for a net cap hit of $1.0M.

I just looked at the cap sheets again, according to the "Cap Summary" and my count, neither Megget nor Jamison were in the top 51.

If that's true, then cutting them wouldn't save space anyway - right?

Yeah bring back Carriker on the cheap. High effort, high character guy. If he can't make it back then roster cut.

I don't disagree, but supposedly Keim said it's unlikely Carriker comes back even on the cheap. I think I heard it on Cooley's show today.

Unlikely because they said Carriker wants to move on, or because the Skins don't want him anymore, or they didn't say?

He failed a physical. Sounds like they're just moving on and don't expect him to be able to play.

Bummer about Carriker. I really liked him as a person. As a player though it'll be interesting to see if another team snags him and if he can come back from that injury. 3 surgeries in a couple years doesn't tend to bode well for being explosive again.

Thank God Sav's gone. Guy was good for awhile but man these last couple of years has been rough. Wonder if he's going to hang it up, he's getting up there in age, but as per most K's/P's he can work into his early 40s.

I'm not surprised Bowen and Carriker weren't released on the same day, but if they do end up keeping Bowen one more season, that would be a bit surprising.

He must have hid in the Laundry Room when he saw other players being called into Bruce Allen's office. That's the only reasonable explanation.

:lol: I laughed at this. Hilarious.

Bowen will have to take a pay cut if he wants to stick around. Even when healthy, he hasn't lived up to his contract. With Baker being resigned for miltiple years, it makes you wonder if he'll even be around next season...

I don't get all the love for Carriker.
He hasn't done squat as a Redskin.
