Ruhskins 09-05-2015, 12:20 PM McC wants him gone...he is a major distraction and a negative force in the locker room. The longer u wait the worse it is. McC wants to move the franchise forward asap
McC probably doesn't care about out any of the QBs on the roster since he didn't draft or signed them. So I don't think he cares much about whether RG3 is on the roster or not.
Since I don't know for sure how McC feels, (and you seem to know for sure), I would guess he's probably somewhere in the middle in terms of his opinion of RG3. Doesn't think he's the future of the team, but doesn't want to give him away for nothing. McC wants all the picks he can get to continue to rebuild the team.

SirLK26 09-05-2015, 12:25 PM and once that option is picked up, it's binding. if he's on the roster, he gets the money, if he's not, he doesn't, unless he's hurt, cause the option is guaranteed against injury.
Okay, but that's not the point. The point is that the Skins can release him without his consent. Contrary to what people on here have been saying.

Can't wait to move rg3 middle of season...now is the time. Especially if we have to replace gruden with Callahan mid season if the skins falter out the gate. McC gonna be too busy with that.
CRedskinsRule 09-05-2015, 12:54 PM But that's exactly the way the 5th year option works. Griffin didn't sign a new contract, the Skins just picked up that option, which is part of the original rookie contract Griffin signed. If the Skins want to rescind the option for any reason, they can do so without Griffin's consent.
No. They can't. Its part of the cba language. If you pick it up it attaches to the original contract. It has one requirement, that the player is one the team the first day of the league year it relates to(in this case 2016) and one proviso, if the player sustains an injury that would keep him out on the first day of the league year(2016) the player receives the guaranteed pay(16mil)
Once the team exercises the option the language is locked.

Right they can release him. But they can't modify the contract. They either cut him before the first day of the new league year or they pay him the 16million. If he is not cut and injured then they pay him. Those are the three possible routes for griffin at this point.
I thought you were saying we could keep him on the roster but cancel the 5th year option. That is not a possibility

Brody81 09-05-2015, 01:09 PM That depends on how much drama he and his daddy stir up with social media and the press. If they are as quiet as little church mice and Daddy G stays away from the team, then OK. If not, then they need to go.
What if Dan Snyder wants to keep RGIII around in case Jay Gruden loses too many (or perhaps enough, in Snyder's mind) games. In that event, he could demand that Scot fire Gruden and replace him with a HC who will try harder to develop RGIII. Then, it would be "Here we go, again!".
One thing I promise myself is that if Snyder ever fires Scot McCloughan over this mess, than I'm done forever with Snyder and his football team. And that is coming from a lifelong Skins fan who was raised in Washington, D.C.
I'm with you. That will be the last straw..

This makes no sense whatsoever.
Also, isn't RG3 technically injured right now since he's not cleared from his concussion? Once again, I don't get the obsession fans continue to have with RG3, given that right now he's buried in the depth chart and hurt.
If Cousins can't mentally handle RG3 as a second or third stringer, then he has no business being a starter.
As I said before, this team is going to ride these three QBs through the season. And unless Cousins becomes the second coming of Tom Brady, these three guys will be gone by the next year or two.

Okay, my bad. Thanks for clearing that up.
SirLK26 09-05-2015, 01:26 PM More cuts in (https://mobile.twitter.com/MikeJonesWaPo/status/640209171175092224). Terrance Plummer, Houston Bates, Trey Williams, and Je'Ron Hamm are gone.
