he left, i don't believe he was fired. in an interview he basically said he didn't want to be part of a full staff firing, and he saw that coming. (it's easier to land another job if you already have one, without the "i just got fired for incompetence" stigma).

^ this interview was when he thought (for some reason) he had a good shot at the DC head coaching job. he's been one of our better ST coaches (not that that's saying much).

My bad.. I had in my mind that he was fired at the time. He was not only one of our better ST coaches I understand that he is one of the better ST coaches in the league. I always considered us lucky to have him. Much like I do with Scot McCloughan..

Ihenacho has been hurt nearly his entire time with the Redskins. What did we do to piss off the safety gods?

every thing is a coaching mistake at some level. Asking tight ends to block (a fundamental football move) is not first and foremost on the coaches, especially when your 2 main blocking TE's go out with season ending injuries. Penalties are on the player first nearly every time. But not all players have the same abilities. For example asking a TE who struggles in pass protection to pass protect or asking a blocking TE who isn't a good receiver to get open and catch 10+ times a game are coaching mistakes.

An old coaching mantra I believe in: you're either coaching it OR allowing it to happen. Its up to the coaches to put players in positions where they'll have success.

We can agree to disagree. I thought it was going to be an issue going into the game and that's how it turned out.

Disagree when multiple players go down. Maybe its a GM issue because he didn't bring in blocking/St TEs to replace blocking/St TEs.

Sent from my S6 EdgeIts also a GM issue I agree there. But, again for me going into a game knowing the TEs you have aren't great blockers then to put them in positions to make critical blocks, is a coaching mistake.

I would like to see some runs from a spread look as 30 mentioned. And stretching the field, even if we dont connect.

I would also like to give Reed and Carrier time before we reach a verdict. While both seem to have "receiver" type bodies, i dont think they did that bad.

Which is exactly what you want if you are going to run the spread/west coast/air coryell systems. It's going to take time to build depth. This isn't about coming out week 1 and shutting down every team we play. We're just trying to build a foundation so that in a year or two we have a full roster with quality NFL players. Seems like everyone forgets that. It's the same mentality everyone got on Snyder about. It doesn't happen overnight.

I think as Cousins settles in and if the OL continues to hold their own, we will see more of that. Coming in to week 1, those were huge question marks that you have to be careful with in game planning.

I understand that they were the only TEs available (which is a different issue on its own). But I would say going into a game knowing those were the only TEs available and that neither are good blockers then you shouldn't call plays that force them to make critical blocks in the run game. You make adjustments. For example GB and Seattle both use 3 wide receivers a RB and FB in I or Offset I and no TE in their run game. That's an adjustment.

Putting players in position where they are overmatched is how you end up with holding penalties from the TE spots and some failed runs due to their failed blocks.

The TE blocking is an issue they have to figure out becuase the next the Ram's actually have a good run defense unlike the Miami's whose run defense is only average.

The only plays where a TE isn't blocking is a pass play where they are running a route.

If Gruden stopped calling runs with our TEs in the game you guys would bash him for being too predictable and being a dumb ass.
