Other side of 95 between 295 and 95 there is plenty of land.
Report: Redskins to unveil drawings of new stadium, location tbdFRPLG 03-15-2016, 10:03 PM Other side of 95 between 295 and 95 there is plenty of land. That Guy 03-15-2016, 10:06 PM and national harbor would be the absolute worst traffic wise. you'd have to take the local with all the alexandria traffic to be able to take exit 2 there. without massive spending on road work, it'd be a nightmare (for any VA fans). nearest metro stop is over 3m away (straight line, walking), though it does have bus service. it's not that it can't be done, i just don't think PG county is going to pay for the infrastructure work to support a stadium like that properly, and everyone else is going to suffer for it. mooby 03-16-2016, 08:23 PM Yeah I'm not sure National Harbor would be the best choice either, if there's a dealbreaker to the land deal it has to be Metro access. Or they have an innovative traffic design that allows a ton of fans to get in and out very quickly. Speaking of... This article from Redskins.com goes into greater detail about some of the concepts, including an interesting angle on the moat (it's also a security feature in addition to a wavepool/skating rink). I will admit I'm really intrigued about the ideas they have, including having leveled parking garages with grass on top for tailgating. With all that said no Metro access is still a dealbreaker for me. They either need direct access to a station or setup a deal like they had in the early years of Fedex where there was a ton of shuttles to catch between the Metro and Fedex. The latter is the worst case scenario obviously. DYoungJelly 03-16-2016, 09:26 PM Anybody read anything about containing fan noise or aspects of the design that would enhance a home field advantage? I haven't seen anything about it and am a little disappointed. The Seattle design is the real deal and it works. FRPLG 03-16-2016, 11:00 PM I agree the National Harbor area is a terrible spot but there is land. I think ideally DS is going t get this thing built on the RFK site. It really is the best option from just about any angle. Giantone 03-17-2016, 02:03 AM Other side of 95 between 295 and 95 there is plenty of land. It's a Federal Farm(park) ,protected .Again no property. Stadium or no stadium, this part of town needs a metro stop BAD. I think putting a stadium there would accelerate this process. Giantone 03-17-2016, 05:07 PM LOL, not a chance. Oxon Cove Park & Oxon Hill Farm (U.S. National Park Service) (http://www.nps.gov/oxhi/index.htm) Giantone 03-17-2016, 05:10 PM land status can change, especially with the money it'd bring in. it just depends who's in charge of it. PG county already has money from the Redskins stadium and if your statement was true about the "status " again forget that and concentrate on the RFK site. |
