Buffalo Bob 09-13-2019, 08:27 AM VD is never a good blocker TBH.
Was never that good and got worse by the year. With his measurables you would think he would have been great as a blocker.
Number44 09-13-2019, 08:27 AM Again, our TEs blocking still is an issue in the run game, ie VD on this play... no run game expert but if he blocks his guy it seems like it could've been a solid gain.

I'm not happy with his blocking, but on this play it looks to me that he did a good job. Isn't that him riding his man back to the 20 yard line? Am I missing something?

Chico23231 09-13-2019, 08:35 AM VD is an athletic freak...but he has some bad drops and cant block. I called on this past offseason as a reset at the position, but nothing done. I hope this coming offseason, TE should be our primary focus along the Oline.
Im completely dumbfounded by Bruce's handling of Brandon Schreff...its gonna cost us more in the long run. We need to lock up our great/elite players. He is fucking this up big time, along with several other situations.

And they are probably right.

Great point and yes you can see #55 on the Eagles (Brandon Graham) chase Guice down from the back side of the play.
Graham is lined up inside Vernon which doesn't make Vernon's job easy, and Graham easily beats Vernon inside because of it, as you'd expect. But notice Graham is able to push Vernon two yards into the backfield immediately. Vernon is never going to seal Graham off on this play, the way Graham is aligned prevents it, but he at least needs to keep Graham from crossing to the Washington side of the line of scrimmage. He needs to stalemate Graham there and force him to run down the line of scrimmage, which would then let Guice get to the line of scrimmage before being contacted, and then you've got a shot at a 3 yard gain to keep the drive on schedule.
Vernon can't give ground so easily, doing so gave Graham the angle to meet Guice in the backfield and stop the play for no gain.

Ok, thanks. I see now VD is lined up on the right side, not the left.

Yep, this looming CBA basically killed any chance at re-signing Schreff. Also, why Trent's stupid ass is not playing, but he's putting bullshit excuses.

As long as the new CBA still has the franchise tag, Scherff isn't going anywhere. If we can't get something done, we'll have to use it.

And I think both sides are counting on that, but the point is that the new CBA is making things difficult to re-sign Schreff and it likely has little to do with the team or Schreff. So be ready to have Schreff on the tag until the new CBA gets done.
