Im certainly no cap expert but Snyder will find a way to pay say Stafford or Rivers if he thinks we can seriously contend for a title next year. We have a few key guys injured coming back. We have the draft. I dont know how much of a splash in free agency we would need to make. Also RR will have a full pre season and a lot of our young guys are only going to get better.
That being said Im all for what Mooby alluded to which is trading down and giving up 2022’s first for a guy like Zach Wilson and then you can spend in free agency.
Problem is FA starts March so if all the vets get signed and we cant trade down in April well.....

Yeah, the last thing I want is for Snyder to find his way into any of this. He can write the checks for the guys that do, but that's about it for me.

So what I meant by that is, if WFT can trade their 2020 2nd round pick and their 2021 2nd round pick to move back into the back end of the 1st round and find their QB of the future, I'd be just fine with that. I would not be fine with including the 2021 1st round pick.

I think you're getting your timeline mixed up. The next draft is in 2021.

So we can move 2021 picks, but future draft picks from the draft after that would be 2022.

If our first rounder after this season is in the 20's, I would give up our second rounder this year to move up into the 10-20 range if the guy we want is on the board. But I wouldn't leave our 2022 first rounder off the table if Ron was all-in on the guy.

Edit: Punch, can we seriously go without the Snyder interference talk? We all know his history and we all know he was probably the mastermind behind the Haskins pick, but in the last year the only thing we know for sure is that he sold Rivera on a coach-centric approach (i.e. Snyder signs the checks). Until we hear that Danny is trying to run the football ops again I think we should trust that Rivera is in control.

Allen Robinson is criminally underrated. If we make a big move I'd like it to be on him. Or Kenny Golladay. WR is hard to draft (unless you're Pittsburgh). We happened to strike gold with McLaurin. But he is the exception, not the rule.

Completely my point as opposed to a project quarterback that could take 3-4 years to fully come of age. Has to be a vet that can win now and for 3-4 years out there. Once we winning then go get a quarterback in the draft. Then you got your master mentor situation. Alex just isn’t good enough anymore. Obviously hitting a gem in the later rounds now would be awesome.

Trade for Stafford and sign Robinson or Golladay? That puts us is the SB contention category immediately. Will cost money. But sometimes you gotta go for it. Especially us who have been dregs for so long.

I gotcha. That would be my first choice too, but I'm not taking the 2022 first rounder off the table.

Lol. Simply a money thing in this case. Not a draft this particular guy at any cost thing which is when things go bad. Ala RG-3 and DH.

In the third round with our two picks id be good with a few quarterbacks...
Namely Desmond Ridder of Cincy if he is there. Also Jamie Neuman of Georgia or Mac Jones.
Pick up an o lineman, a cb , and a safety, mlb, or tight end to pair with Logan before that and I would be very happy.

I don't think there is any chance Mac Jones will be available in the third round.

Yeah that may be a stretch...
