Chico23231 01-07-2021, 03:41 PM That should mean he has gotten 2 or 3 solid weeks of reps, not the best for going into a playoff game, but hopefully enough.
If we see Heineken Saturday shit went sideways. I still believe Alex starts no matter what.

The game will be very reminiscent of the RG3 Seahawks game and I don't want that for Alex or the team.

I think this game is a test of our coaching and gameplanning more than anything.
Has the past four weeks given Arians false confidence about our passing attack? Will he just have Brady launching it every other play with no regard to the pass rush?
We can easily gameplan around the front 4 of the Redskins, but will we? Slants, bubble screens, RB/TE screens, shallowing crossing routes. Couple that with a lot of rush attempts and suddenly Chase Young can't get to Brady. All our deep stuff needs to come from PA or with heavy protection sets.
Now, if we start doing a bunch of empty backfield 4 and 5 WR looks and leave Smith one on one, then that's a recipe for disaster and a clear indicator that coaching is still an achilles heel of this team.
On the defensive side of the ball, we have no excuse. Unless we have a bunch of turnovers or bad special teams which leads to poor field position, there's no reason why our defense should give up more than 10-13 points against this putrid Redskins offense.
I'm confident in our roster being leagues ahead of the Redskins, but I'm still nervous about the coaching.

Pretty good take from a Bucs fan. Weve seen teams play quick ball on us all year and while it does limit their QBs exposure to our pass rush ... its also a big reason we have the leagues #2 pass defense allowing only 191.8 passing yards/game.
Be interesting to see how it plays out. Sure Bucs can play quick ball ... but will they win raking up 200 passing yards on a 21/32 type performance? Can Arians and TB stick to being conservative and safe?

Since Brady is pretty immobile we can have the back end heavily protected with safety help. Gronkowski, as someone said, is the thorn in the plan.

ODUsmitty 01-08-2021, 12:12 AM If Taylor gets to play, many of the off-season discussions could possibly change dramatically. Let's say he stinks up the joint, Smith would have equally earned the L just with more shallow cuts. If he holds his own, but loses to the goat, then we have our backup, at worst. But imagine the story if he plays hard and well and gives us a chance to win. Draft discussions change significantly, as Heinicke has very little tread worn off the tires, and investments can be made at OL and LB that are needed. I love an underdog story, and as an ODU and WFT fan, am damned thrilled that the best QB in FCS could possibly lead my Redskins to a playoff win. This is fun stuff, and house money. I hope RIverboat Ron is ambitious in his game aspirations.

I sincerely doubt that, Mrs. Heinicke.

Which leads me to think he will only ever be a backup; his arm strength and issues with dealing with pressure/crowded pockets, means he's always at risk of interception in pressured situations. He didn't face those really against Carolina but he would definitely face them if playing Saturday. There's no indication he's overcome the problem with pressure, so right now I'd say Smith is the better 'risk' unless he's a total statue back there.
On the other hand, we have nothing to lose, so maybe if Smith can't go he might make the game entertaining, if not at least gives us a chance?
Chico23231 01-08-2021, 10:07 AM Chico keys to the game:
1. Move Brady off his spot in the pocket and do not let him stand tall. Advance stats this year says he will make careless throws, let’s increase the chance.
2. The defense has to hold to field goals in the red zone. The way we win is if we hang around...the key to hanging around is 4th down stops and red zone defense.
3. With the offense struggling, a big play on defense and/or special teams would be huge. It’s tough to say we must score, but if an opportunity presents itself, make the play.
4. We need our receivers to catch the ball and help out our QB. Too many drops in the last month by JD, Logan Thomas, And the Sims brothers. They need to make the tough plays and block in the run game. Pass catchers need to come to play.
5. If we ever needed to run the ball, it’s this game. You need to help out your injured QB..run the ball as a unit. Turner needs to have a run game ready
