But front office was like we are hitting a home run at QB this year look out! Then when we fanned on Wilson and Rogers; teams like Indy know we better do something after running our mouths.
Who cares what the FO says. Pete Carroll said last week that they weren't trading Russ. Fans need to stop acting like 5 year olds and stop believing or hanging on every word that teams/coaches/front offices say.
I'm sure if Ron wasn't saying anything and/or praising Heinecke people would be mad too.

Yeah, but I rather have a bridge QB I could get rid of a year from now, than committing two or three years to Winston/Mariota/Trubisky.
Also, there's going to be competition for those guys, and they will all get overpaid.
That is a fair point

i was speaking in regards to trade posturing with other teams.

We have a legit GM in Martin Mayhew. We have a solid completely filled out front office for the first time in forever.
click on our org chart below ... weve never had that.

Im not stoked for Wentz either ... but its 2 3rds and we can get out after this year for 12M dead cap.
Aside from drafting Jamin Davis (who its too early to call definitively) .. Ive liked the moves weve made for the most part.
Sorry not buying it. Just like we were letting everyone know we wanted a QB, the Colts were letting everyone know what they thought of Wentz. He was getting cut. You just don't give up high draft picks for someone that is about to get cut.

Options are few at QB now. It's either this or paying Winston/Trubisky/Mariota guaranteed money for 2-3 years.
I would pay Trubisky or Mariota and keep my picks. Wentz is no better than either of them.

WC didn't fan on Wilson & Rogers, WC was never in the batters box to begin with. For an organization as poorly regarded as WC, getting Wentz is as close to a home run as they can get.

If he becomes a free agent you can't guarantee he would come here, plus you have to offer him a new contract.

Really, you'd give them two or three years of guaranteed money? Also compete with other teams and overpay for them?

140 Tds 57 Ints in his career
90 QBR

Means nothing. Two teams who don't have good QB options said no thanks. Two teams that see him every single day. That's way more important and really tells the real story over his stats. His stats have no substance what so ever.

I am not in love with this move, but he is (nearly every QB would be) the best QB we've had since Kurt Cousins.
He's had success. Not a great completion %, but good QBR. Doesn't throw a lot of INTs compared to TDs. He's had a couple injuries - but I think he's only missed 8 games due to injury in 6 years. That's not bad. He was benched for Jalen Hurts in 2020, but that was a B A D team, and they had to see what Jalen Hurts could do. Looked good last year, but tailed off at the end apparently.
Ok. Welp, I'm not going to cry and whine about it. At least they are trying to do something. Whether it's Wentz, Winston, Trubisky...neither blows me away, but neither one of they was going to make everyone happy. Looks to be a fair deal - I'm curious to see if he and ST can take this team to the next level.
