Ive heard from more than one skins beat reporter say Chase is the vocal leader in the locker room, guys gravitate to him, hes the pulse.

I think Chase has all the physical intangibles + super star drive = HOF

Just gotta put it all together.

RR said pre season he went over film w Chase and he wasnt doing what he did in college. In college hed beat you with speed just as much as bull rush over power. In the NFL hes not challenging guys head on but trying to be finesse, RR talked to him about being physical, putting a toll on that tackle.

My impression was .. RR wants Chase going helmet on helmet when the play calls for it so he can be gap/job responsible and the guys behind him can do their job.

Little like running right at Parsons. Parsons is always thinking of how he is going to beat his guy to get to QB. So run right at him bc Parsons is always thinking sack, will always be out of position.

Still hoping chase has learned some new moves and a better nose for the running plays/qb runs. He was pretty good, then fell off - and i need to see him prove it out there.

Until then my internal jury will remain out and continue to lean toward a disappearing more often than not in games...... JAG

If he lost that quick first step .. hes not going to live up to his potential.

Healthy career with that Von Miller type jump off the ball ... HOF imo.

His natural physical abilities are top 5% for edge in NFL. He seems to have that superstar drive.

I agree with what people are saying but weve only just begun.

I would say he would be back to his old self next year. DeMarcus Ware suffered a knee injury and he was back to his old self on his second year after the injury.

At this point I'd just sit him until 2023

When he's healthy and ready to go, I think they have to start easing him in there. There's no benefit in waiting until next year. He could be a big boost to this D by playoff time (should they make it), which is still six weeks away. But you'll never know if you don't get him out there and let him knock off the rust and get in sync with his teammates.

Right now we're in playoff contention, so that's potentially 6+ games to get back in game shape and see where he's at. If nothing else the coaching staff will want that game film. If he's put on ice until camp, he's going to have to get up to game speed in camp. I'd bet it would be game 2 or 3 next year before he's good. Why put him on ice if he might be a top pass rusher by game 15 or 16? Who wouldn't want that against the 49ers, Browns and Cowgirls?

Saw a quote on the twitter feed of one of the local journo's, may have been Keim, that I thought was interesting and is relevant to Young. The arrival/return of Kerrigan as an assisstant coach was heavily credited with the maturing of Montez Sweats game. If you think about it, it was after Kerrigan left last year that the DE play was killing the gap control and was driving Ron mad. This year, admittedly after the firing of Mills, they are far more scheme sound in terms of containing the edges. I this is true, hopefully it has a similar effect on Young. As others have said, I think it is important to get Young back on the field and knocking the rust off as long as he is fit to do so. Holding him out any longer will affect his game mentally. Also saw a report that Ron sat down with Chase in the offseason to watch film and point out what he was doing differently last year compared to his college days and rookie year, which will also hopefully have a positive impact.

My thought is it’s all about being able to get something from Chase in the playoffs. He’s not going to make a major impact vs NY if he even plays. And since it’s these two games against NY that will be what decides whether we make it, you have to get to the playoffs effectively without Chase.

But get in and have him ready to do damage in the first round and anything can happen.
