GoSkins! 12-06-2005, 09:00 PM I decided to review the progress our offense has made up to this point as compared to last year. I thought that you guys may be interested to know that we have now scored more points than we did all of last year. Even better, last year at this point we had allowed 25 more points than we had scored. This year we have scored 8 more than we have allowed.
Our defense has given up 32 more points than it had at this time last year, but our offense has scored 72 points more than it had at this point. Guys, I think that this is significant progress by our coaching staff.
Further, in the last 6 games, when the Skins said they started impelmenting the changes to the offense, we averaged 18.17 points per game. This year we are averaging 20.08 points per game.
At this point last year we were 4 and 8. This year 6 and 6.
I think we are making good progress and I expect us to really be a classic Gibbs team come 2007... not to mention we still have something to work for here in 2006!
2005 2006
US THEM US THEM
Total Year 240 265 241 233
At this point of the year 169 201 241 233

HaHa... Yeah, I had a pretty cool spreadsheet, but I wasn't sure how to link it in. It all made sense when I wrote it. In summary: we are better and the scores prove it.:)

Hey no fair, you're using facts to back up what you are saying.
Defensewins 12-06-2005, 10:11 PM Great post Go Skins.
I usually do not like to look at stats to determine how well a team is playing, but in this case I like it.
Sometimes an above average team might have a tough schedule, like the Redskins, and lose several close games and their stats might not be great.
Then another team that has an easier schedule and their stats are inflated. So stats can be misleading.
I can look at a game a know if a team is playing well, despite the score and stats. The Redskins are MUUUUCH improved from the Spurrier embarrasment era.

In a tribute to JoeRedskin, the bottom line is we have as many wins as we did last year, but we have 4 games left to be played.
saden1 12-07-2005, 01:31 AM 6-6 isn't progress...if we cut down on mistakes and turnovers then I would be inclined to agree with you.

6-6 against a harder schedule isn't progress from 6-10? I'd have to disagree with you there.

We went from 4-8 to 6-6. Isn't that the very definition of progress for that stat?
As far as progress, generally, our offense has gotten better in every category, while our defense remains in the top 10. That's progress.
