Dawan Landry anybody? A Laron Dawan Safety pairing sounds sweet.

All kidding aside i would on offense sign:
Leinhart, as a solid player to compete for the starting job.
Tim Hightower: fast, young, and helpful as a counter to torain's power running.
Mike Sims-Walker: nothing expensive but an able wide receiver who is young. As good as any second round receiver.

They're both strong safties except Dawan isn't as gifted physically as Laron. We would basically be bringing in a starting caliber player to be a backup simply because he's related to one of our players.

Well remember Baltimore already has the best FS in the league. Dawan is their in the box compliment to Reed. As I said before Dawan is Laron with less raw athletic ability. Then again Dawan is probably the smarter one seeing as how he attended Georgia Tech and graduated while Laron attended LSU and left after three years.
I'd easily take a 4th rounder for Rice. He's going to be 25 next year and the Vikes sorely missed him more than anything else on offense this year.
The guy has had ONE good year. I know he shows a lot of promise but I'm not trading ANY draft picks for a wr. How about trading a 4th rounder for someone that can BLOCK?

I wouldn't sign ONE FA. It's not like we're going to content for the SB next year by adding a few guys. I would do exactly what Carolina did this past year and hope to draft Luck in 2012.

He also gave life to a dead offense this year. His absence was so evident that the Vikes deemed it necessary fill that void by coughing up picks for Randy Moss. That's how much they missed him

4th rounders usually fetch depth or stud special teamers if kept. I would not expect to get a starting caliber guard from another team by coughing up a 4th rounder, since guard is are most pressing, and yet arguably, only, need on OL.

That's top 3 dumbest things I've see on this site. So you'd bypass the best, deepest FA class in the HISTORY of the NFL to tank a season and draft a college kid. Vinny Cerrato mocks you while Matt Millen scoffs at you.

I agree with you but lets hold back on the Vinny insults, seeing as how thats the Warpath equivalent of a nuclear bomb. In fact Vinny insults are so strong that I suggest anyone considering using one to look into racial insults or insulting family members before going with a Vinny. It's much more polite that way.

In free agency, we can improve with:

- a starting RG
- any defensive player with experience in Pittsburgh's system.

But beyond that, I'm not sure whats out there that makes us a better team. The receiver class is very deep, and we certainly need some help there, but which player would come to Washington to be part of a rebuilding project? Breaston, maybe? Rice would be a killer signing, but he's possibly the most sought-after free agent on the market, if not the Vikings' franchise player.

The easiest position to improve through free agency would be the quarterback position, but there are no great names out there. All QBs who were once drafted in the first round and will be available in FA include:

Peyton Manning
Michael Vick
Matt Leinart
Byron Leftwich
Alex Smith
Kerry Collins
Rex Grossman
Kyle Boller

Plus one name I find to be most intriguing for the Shanahan system if/when he hits the market: Drew Stanton.

Vick and Manning obviously aren't coming here. Maybe we're interested in one of the other 6? Or Grossman plus one other.

I would not resign Grossman. I would bring in ONE of those free agents above, and draft TWO quarterbacks in the draft. That's how I would handle it.
