Re: Samuels quot eon Campbell provided by Kevin Sheen on Redskins radio
FREE AGENCY: Momentum builds for Vick to Skins
Michael Vick | Falcons | Interested: Redskins? Patriots? Ravens? Raiders? Saints? Jason Campbell can't catch a break. At nearly every step this offseason, the Redskins have been linked to another QB, and with comments made recently by Jim Zorn and some other 'Skins coaches, he may have Michael Vick breathing down his neck at some point this season. An anonymous Redskins coach told Fox 31 in Denver that, "There is definitely a number of us who would love to have him play here. I can tell you I would not mind at all." While a little bit dismissive, head coach Jim Zorn left the door open in saying before Washington's first training camp practice that they would not be signing Vick "at this juncture." The insinuation here is that the team will have Vick's cell number handy if Campbell struggles to start the 2009 campaign. Meanwhile, Vick's contention that he was close to signing with a team has been refuted by what a source has told ESPN's John Clayton. Clayton notes that it's likely we won't see a Vick signing until training camps are "well under way".
Okay, so the "momentum" allegedly building is evidenced by a Redskin coach mentioning that several members of the coaching staff wouldn't mind having him on the team. What a stupidly misleading headline. By the way, the headline has now been changed on the site to add Baltimore to the mix. |
And who the hell is "Josina Anderson of Fox 31 in Denver". And why would a low level "anonymous" Redskins coach be talking to him. This report stinks real bad and I can't believe anyone is giving it any credence.
But, Anderson does mention "a Redskins defensive starter" witnessed fans holding up Vick signs. Game over, Vick's as good as signed. Here's the rest of the blog/article: However when this same coach was asked about the likelihood of Vick appearing on a field he coaches on at Redskins Park, the source replied, “I tell you what, his name has not come up in any meeting I have been a part of yet.” So, naturally the next question after that was, would Vick’s name come up in any meetings this source participates in? “Yes and no. Information gets passed on and shared in our meetings. They can ask for our input as well.” I also spoke with a Redskins defensive starter Thursday evening who said he had not personally heard any Vick news directly, or indirectly, from sources closer to Vick. However, he did witness some Washington fans making their own sentiments known at the facility earlier. “I tell you what, they were holding up signs that had Michael Vick’s name on it at practice.”

Josina started her career at the CBS affiliate in Coos Bay, Oregon as a sports anchor/reporter. This explains things a little bit, but isn't she the one that started the "Cutler's a drunk" fiasco and later had to retract/clarify her remarks. I think you're right, someone's looking for some web hits and name recognition. |
Re: Samuels: Campbell has 6-7 games to prove himself (radio quote)
I think I remember her now. I think she may have gone by a different name here. But we could always ask Tony about her
Anyway, I think we're reading too much into things here |

You mean Samuals, who was interviewed only because Carlos Rodgers was busy helping Chad Rhinedhart change a flat tire on Jason Cambell's truck :) |
You're thinking too much. Stop worrying. Why would we get Vick in the middle of the season and expect him to take us to the playoffs when he has to learn a WHOLE new offense and get refamiliar with the game of football? Snyder's not even that dumb.
Not thinking too much. Not worrying. Who said he was going to take us to the playoffs? he may need to learn an offense..he might be rusty but I don't think he needs to learn how to play football again. As for the last sentence. He has gotten smarter over the past few years....But I can think more than a few times he made dumb moves. But usually they were for players who were past their prime by a long shot. IE Bruce Smith, Deion Sanders..He has made better moves but I wont call any of them beneficial @ this point.. |

Define beneficial |

Do you want the literal definition or are you asking me to state what benefits we have received from some of Dan's signings since he's been here. (being an ass vs legitimate debate)..Which one? As for signings that have worked in our favor or have giving us some sort of advantage. There haven't been many. But there have been some improvements despite some enormous busts..Do you want me to define enormous? |

But there have been some improvements despite some enormous busts..Do you want me to define enormous?
Well you mentioned that usually he makes moves for players past their prime. Which was true 10 years ago, and true with Archuleta (and not Jason Taylor, because JT had just come off a 12 sack season I believe); but for the most part we have not gone after "past their prime" players. You also mentioned he's made better moves but wouldn't call any of them beneficial. To which I would ask, how do you define beneficial? Did we benefit from having Shawn Springs, Todd Collins, Cornelius Griffin, Marcus Washington, Clinton Portis, Santana Moss when we made the playoffs? |
Re: Samuels: Campbell has 6-7 games to prove himself (radio quote)
Are you a Daniel Snyder apologist? I actually like Dan for this reason. He might not have made all the right moves in the past. But atleast he put his money where his mouth was and spent bucks trying. Eventhough he was learning on the go. But I will agree with u in that some of those players helped us out. But alot of them were old or injury prone. We make splashes in free agency. But rarely get someone who can help us for the long run. CP trade was definitely a good move. Moss good move. Todd Collins good move to compliment Saunders system. The rest are iffy. I do agree he is is getting better. Definitely. Drafting and signing free agents. But it took him a long time to concentrate on the D-line.

Not an apologist. I think though that too many people think Dan Snyder and instantly they think Deion Sander and overpriced, past their prime players. And clearly his regime as owner should not be focused only on that move. |
Re: Samuels: Campbell has 6-7 games to prove himself (radio quote)
True. I agree. Like I said I rather have an owner who isn't afraid to spend his money and learn from his mistakes than a owner that sits back and does nothing. He was young and has grown and him and Cerrrato have matured a lot as far as personnel decisons go. I've always personally liked Dan (because I know he would do anything to make us winners). Just not all of his decisions he's made in "the past".

Re: Samuels: Campbell has 6-7 games to prove himself (radio quote)
I have to wonder why Samuels just came out and said this. Usually guys are like this is our QB and we are going to ride him to the wheels fall off, pass or fail. not i think we give him X amount of games and if he is struggling we move on.
