Re: Redskins Offensive Outlook

I like this offseason a whole lot more than years past, because instead of bringing in a whole new offense or defense we're just adding flavor to what we've already got. I agree, the offense will only be as good as the offensive line but the o-line is quickly shaping up to be an area of strength after so many years of it being a primary weakness.

I did bemoan passing on Mike Williams, but I think we should be much improved this season. I love the low power rankings we've gotten so far, lots of folks are sleeping on the Skins but I think the NFC East is going to be the best division in football next season.

And maybe people feel the Skins O-line is one of the more dominant ones in the league...

good article.............COOLEY, COOLEY, COOLEY............
I agree about our line, little concerned about our smallish receivers, the pressure is on Ramsey, hopefully the improved line will help ..........And I'm confident Gibbs will open up the offense and won't play so conservative..........
I would have to AGREE 100%.....now this is inside info but a friend of mine is in a poker league with Cooley.......says he is really down to earth! Pretty open about his football career etc......Cooley stated that the offensive coaches said he could have 60+ catches this year! Believe it or not, but it is straight from the horses mouth! COOLEY IS GOING TO BE A MONSTER!
Poker!!!!!!!!!! I love it........Does Cooley play Texas Hold 'Em..........

Cooley was definitely like a black hole for the pigskin. If the ball was anywhere near him, he CAUGHT it and hung on to it.
I agree on Arizona.

I'd start Betts in San Fran over Kevan Barlow, though they just drafted Frank Gore who has to get a look. But Betts would be my guy right now.

You'd have to consider Betts to be at least in the mix in Minnesota (Michael Bennet, Ciatrick Fason, Mewelde Moore, Moe Williams).

I think Betts could challenge Reuben Droughns in Cleveland. Droughns is nothing special, just a product of that Denver system.

And in Tennessee, Chris Brown should certainly be the starter when healthy, but he just broke his hand, so I'll bet the Titans wouldn't mind a Ladell Betts.

But I do agree, he did overstate it. That's hardly a "slew" of teams, it's mostly a bunch of maybes.
Everyone of these backs have shown more potential than Betts as of now so to say he would take any of their jobs is pure specualtion. Betts is a good backup who might start in the right circumstance if given the opportunity, but to act like the league is beating down the door for Ladell Betts is just rediculous...

Re: Redskins Offensive Outlook

A: H-Back and Tight End are two entirely different positions.
Cooley, Sellers= H-Back, Royal, Baber=TE

B: Blocking TE= Dead give away
This is exactly why I`m hoping Royal can improve his blocking skills and become what the team really needs, an every down TE.

Rotating in an obvious " blocker " is only going to help opposing D`s. Predictabilty will get you killed in the NFL and we know this.

C: Heath Miller= VA native, Soft hands and 13 time all ACC offensive lineman of the week.
Damn I was hoping the Skins would draft that guy!

I was watching the Poker Tournaments on tv and there was a guy with a Redskin hat in the crowd, but he was leaning forward couldnt see his face....wondering if it was Cooley. Guess it wasn't if he only plays in the cheap games.....

Re: Redskins Offensive Outlook

In the 2004 offseason, Betts might have been more attractive - he might have gotten us a low 2nd rounder or high 3rd rounder (after all, I think Lamar Gordon got the 'Fins a 4th rounder). Now, the guy isn't worth squat and it's highly unlikely he'd challenge any teams' starter.
