I like how he can spit out puppydogs and leprechauns and still back it up.

Re: Redskins Offensive Outlook

sweet. that article has revived my faith in my skins. if everything works according to plan, we could be a 10-6 or 11-5 team this season. maybe even better, but that is a long shot, because in order for that to happen, the offense would need to make huge leaps and bounds instead of the kind that guy is talking about. i feel good about the skins though, and i totally agree with what he said about cooley. i didn't understand how some fans felt we needed help at the tight end/h-back position with cooley there. i bet he's gonna be as good as antonio gates next season.

Cooley is a beast, but there's no way he'll put up AG's stats (if that is in fact what your meant by he'll be as good as AG was).

Re: Redskins Offensive Outlook

A lot of people think we need an upgrade at Robert Royal's position. I think we need a great blocking TE that can occassionally catch a pass. Just a big guy with good hands!

Re: Redskins Offensive Outlook

what i meant by it was how antonio gates wasn't supposed to be that great but look what he did last season. that's how i view cooley. people think he isn't that great but he is poised to have a pro bowl type season. cooley can block. he can catch passes also. he didn't have a lot of dropped passes last season.

Cooley can hold a block, but he doesn't bowl anyone over. Daseals is right about us needing an upgrade in the blocking TE position. One of our newly drafted fullbacks may be groomed to fill some stop duty to statisfy that need.

Unfortunately, I think a good blocking tight end needs to be in the 260 lb. + range and both our newly acquired backs are about 20 lbs. too light (if I recall correctly).

Re: Redskins Offensive Outlook

If I have said it once I have said it 20 times. Cooley is going to blow up next year and have a probowl type season. Get your jersey now.

Love this guys take, nice to hear a positive spin for a change.

Re: Redskins Offensive Outlook

Good article...a little optomistic, but this is the time of year for optimism. My only problem is the statement that Betts could start for a slew of other teams. I like Betts as a backup but I would be interested in hearing the slew of teams that he could start for. The only team in the NFC I could see Betts even getting a chance to start for is Arizona, but they also just drafted JJ Arington who will get first crack. Other than that I enjoyed the article...

I agree on Arizona.

I'd start Betts in San Fran over Kevan Barlow, though they just drafted Frank Gore who has to get a look. But Betts would be my guy right now.

You'd have to consider Betts to be at least in the mix in Minnesota (Michael Bennet, Ciatrick Fason, Mewelde Moore, Moe Williams).

I think Betts could challenge Reuben Droughns in Cleveland. Droughns is nothing special, just a product of that Denver system.

And in Tennessee, Chris Brown should certainly be the starter when healthy, but he just broke his hand, so I'll bet the Titans wouldn't mind a Ladell Betts.

But I do agree, he did overstate it. That's hardly a "slew" of teams, it's mostly a bunch of maybes.

I would have to AGREE 100%.....now this is inside info but a friend of mine is in a poker league with Cooley.......says he is really down to earth! Pretty open about his football career etc......Cooley stated that the offensive coaches said he could have 60+ catches this year! Believe it or not, but it is straight from the horses mouth! COOLEY IS GOING TO BE A MONSTER!
