Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
The whole notion of 'players won't want to come here' is as dumb as Shanahan 'lost the locker room' in the midst of the McNabb situation. Players don't care about that bs when money is on the table. Most free agents will go for A) Money, B) System fit, C) environment.. We've shown we're not scared to spread money around, Shanahan/Allen will get players that fit and bottom line, Shanny's rep for winning and having a good program will offset any concerns of McNabb/Haynesworth.
As for a free agent wish list (trying to be realistic as well): RB-Tim Hightower WR-Malcolm Floyd or Jacoby Jones OL-Deuce Luitui, Davin Jospeh or Ryan Khalil DL-Aubrayo Franklin or Barry Coefeld LB-David Harris or Manny Lawson |
Of course not, but with Mount Cody now being the NT, they MAY entertain trading him.
Ngata plays DE, Cody is slated to replace Kelly Gregg at NT. I am hoping that Anthony Bryant works out at NT (he looked good yesterday). |

Hmm, I could have sworn the starting lineups last year had him starting at NT...ah well, I don't follow Bal'more that much. |

A Franklin/Bryant rotation at NT would be great. |
I expect the Skins are going to be pretty aggressive in free agency. They're set up well to do so, cap-wise.
Exactly, hopefully we spread money around and bring in some young talent to build some depth all over the team. Usually we throw a few huge contracts at players that we shouldn't be giving that kind of money to (Jason Taylor, AH etc.) |

Ngata and Redding are the DEs, and Gregg is the NT. Ngata's athleticism is better suited to the 3-4 end position, instead of being a space-eating NT (which is what Gregg's role is on that D). |
There are only so many opportunities in the NFL. We'll have no problem luring FAs. Joseph, Woodley are two names I'm hearing a lot lately
You really think Pittsburgh will let Lamarr Woodley walk? I see a lot of good names in the posts but idw the Skins to get overloaded with big contracts again. |
Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
With Snyderatto not running things anymore, the Redskins are no longer a place to go to get paid, so the greedy moneygrubbers wont want to come here (which is good). But what about the hard working, blue-collar players we want the skins to go after - why would they choose to come here?
McNabb is one of the most beloved players in the league - and the Shanahans completely humiliated him. I dont think free agents will want to come here because they fear Shanahan could do the same to them. What do you guys think?
I am falling off my chair with laughter reading your doom and gloom remarks. If a blue collar player wants to be here, he will come. Why? Because of Mike Shanahan, a no nonsense coach who is looking for a "few good men", maybe several. Don't underestimate this team. You are selling it short by suggesting that no one (FA, that is) will want come here. If they want to win they will come. |
Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
Is that all? Why not add here that he should try to convince Atlanta to trade Matt Ryan for Donovan McNabb even up? Or maybe get DeSean Jackson for Albert Haynesworth even up? Those would be good moves too...
That's Snyder's list buddy... And no where's in that post did it say he wanted every single one of them. Geez, you really are a curmudgeon |
Re: Huge FA Class in 2011 - But will anyone want to come here?
Skins players' are "in the know" about the truth to McNabb. However, outsiders, except for the Eagles and guys like Freddie Mitchell and T.O, are probably just as well-informed as fans, which isn't very much informed. The difference is that they probably view McNabb as a brother, and thus will always blindly come to his aid, just like Redskins fans will blindly support Shanahan. Humans love to form cult of personalities, especially for powerful public male personalities.
Well I'm sure at this point and time most players will have each others backs considering the CBA and all but I was refering to players having the Shanahan's back in this case. Apparently they like what the coach's are doing and how they are handling things. |
There is no way in hell Baltimore lets Ngata walk.
They shouldn't thats for damn sure... He will be a free agent though and has been underpaid for a few years. He's played the NT and DE position for the Ravens. |

Ryan and Jackson aren't free agents. |

And as I said, I believe that the Redskins players agree with the way it's being handled because they know more about the situation at hand than say, practically anyone from another team or former players in the media. |

Without tags or smilies, it's harder to detect sarcasm. It was just a false negative. |
