Thats what I remember but several here are bashing him for something that he may or may not of had any control. Yes, he did have a bad year but dang Moss's number where down by about half from the prior year. We do know that Lloyd spent the off season working hard to get into shape so why not wait until the season to see if he is ready to get thing going. I do think that thrash should see more time on the field because it just seems that he makes the plays when we need them.
So basically what you are saying is he did not report in shape for his first season as a Redskin? Why didn't the guy come in shape when he was traded for? The Redskins traded 2 picks and gave him a $10 million signing bonus to show they were committed to him, yet he did not have the desire to come in last year in shape and ready to produce?

This is why I hate the signing bonuses that are unrelated to perfomance - because even if he does awful this year and the Skins cut him he gets the last laugh in that he has already banked a boatload of cash.

If Llyod doesn't pan out we are going to be hardpressed to make the playoffs. Only having two legitimate Wr's isn't going to get us to the promised land with playing 9 playoff teams from last year. Thrash is good at special teams, but even has fallen in that regard. I am surprised he still is playing here.

I will be honest I had high hopes for Lloyd last year. I really thought he was going to play well, he said everything I wanted to hear. He is saying all the right things again this year. I am glad he added muscle, but the bottom line is I dont care if you are all muscle you need to perform on the field. I am still holding out hope that he will pan out. I hope somewhere in that newly added 9 lbs of muscle he found a football player, preferably a wide receiver.
If your going to start a thread about a player at least get the facts right. Lloyd is listed as the #3 WR only because that is how they finished the season last year and has nothing to do with their play in camps. I heard this twice over the past 2 days and one of the sources was Gibbs. On the Riggo show yesterday the reporter they had at camp said he did not know if it was just him but Lloyd look much faster than he did last year and he was impressed with hi play. Lets give the guy a break and the opportunity to prove that he can get the job done. Our O and D all looked bad last year and the only player that really stood out was Betts.
Actually Jerry Coleman stated what you said about ARE being the #2 because that is how the season ended. Than Andy Pollin responded and asked "has Brandon Llyod done anything in OTA's or training camp to displace ARE?" and Coleman flat out said he has not done anything in camp to displace ARE. I guess I should have included that in my intial posting but I had my facts straight - just passing along what Coleman is reporting because he is probably a guy who has a pretty good feel for the situation because Coleman spends every day at the Park since he is a Redskins beat reporter for Sportstalk 980.

I agree with Al that El has earned the #2 spot. Lloyd has to step up ALOT, I hope this year he will have the year we expected last season!

I just watched a clip on are local news in Hampton Roads WAVY 10, interview with Lloyd stating in his opinion we have the BEST WR core in the NFL? Sounded good, with no injuries to SM, El and Lloyd both having a bigger role, we could be strong at WR.......I'll pray for BEST!

I don't think they could crack the top 10 receiver cores in the NFL - just looking at it from a non-hometeam point of view. I just long for the days that we lined up Clark, Sanders and my all time favorite Monk - and you could just feel that one if not two of those guys were going to destroy the other team. Unfortunately the only wr on our team that can be a consistent threat is Moss. ARE is a nice threat on special teams and on some trick plays, but I don't think many defenses fear our team's wr core beyond Moss. I hope Llyod and ARE prove me completely wrong because if they do were are probably a playoff team, but I think what we got out of Llyod and ARE is probably what we can expect in the future.

Put it another way - I bet if you could somehow track nationwide how many people who play fantasy football pick either Llyod or ARE I would bet my house it is less than 1%.

Re: ARE vs. Lloyd for the number 2 WR spot

ARE versus Brandon Lloyd for the #2 spot is not a close contest at all.

Lloyd= a few highlights and some absolutley ridiculous catches

ARE= one of the game's most versatile performers, CHAMPIONSHIP EXPERIENCE

If you are talking talent alone, then of course, Lloyd is far more suited to be an apt wideout than ARE. But as far as the #2 goes for our team, I'd rather have someone who was directly responsible for their former team winning a SuperBowl and one who does not bring a lot of drama to the team at that spot...So the real question is Talent versus SuperBowl Rings.
