If we get one free agent I want it to be Kalil. Regardless of the offseason strategy. He is considered the second best center in the league by ESPN and in all actuality he's probably a much better zone blocker then the leagues premier guy, Nick Mangold. And just to sweeten the pot, remember this, he's more highly regarded then Alex Mack. That's how good Kalil is.
I think the McNabb thing is a bit overblown. People know that Shanahan has won a lot of games in this league doing things his way. If you perform you've got nothing to worry about. Can we sit here today and really say that DM was performing at a high level? Anyone?
DM has won a lot of games in this league as well. Can we sit here today and say Shanahan is performing at a high level? It's really hard to tell at this point.

I have to agree with the OP, I would be hesitant to send my guy to the Redskins org. in fear of deflating his value in the future if he didnt live up to Shans expectations.

I'd say yes. This team was coming off a 4 win season against a ridiculously easy schedule. Yet they were able to pull off 6 wins and would have had about 8 had they not had to deal with kicking troubles. A new defense and a new offense yet with the exception of the Giants and Eagles they were able to play hard week in and week out. So maybe not a high level yet, but personally I like the direction the team is headed.
I bet some players appreciate the fact that Shanahan does not coddle players the likes of McNabb/Haynesworth. Shanahan could give 2 sh!ts what people think about him and is all about winning. That is the kind of coach you want to play for if championships are your end goal.
some players like it, others hate it.

DM had a significant hand in deflating his own value. Were Shanahan's expectations so incredibly high? I mean we're talking about a QB with more INTs than TDs and a 77 rating. Once the team was mathematically eliminated, he shut him down to evaluate Rex.

The benching in Detroit was mishandled, but the drama over sitting him down with 3 games to go is just nonsense, and ultimately the whole DM saga will not be any factor whatsoever in bringing in free agents in 2011.

i like the WR crop, aside from the big names i like James Jones & Sims-Walker... they both have breakout potential.

He even admitted the fact he could have been more forthcoming about the situation in Detroit but, as far as all the talk about disrespect, I just don't get it.

As far as McNabb is concerned ..ask yourself this .. Did Brett Favre playing with the Jets for one year set back the Jets ? I know it's not a great example as far as the situation but there hardly is a good example, however as far an aging QB who played with a team for one year then bolted I think it's similar ... HTTR ...

Plus I don't think Shanny has any foot fetish videos .. so we have that going on for us

We already saw that QB's from the Eagles offense don't translate well to our system yet you want to bring in another guy from that very same system? For better or worse Reid QB's will not translate well into this offense. Part of the reason Vick has been so successful is a combination of committing to the pocket and being allowed to improvise.

As for Moss good riddance. Lazy, only want to run one route, build the offense around me, diva.

VJax is fine so long as he's an actual free agent.

Randy Moss is finished. Do not want.

He busted with 2 teams this season, AFTER being let go from the league's best team...who didn't lose a step after his absence. In fact, NE looks better without him.

Randy Moss? Seriously dude? Turn off the Madden and do some research, Moss is done.

I think McNabb's biggest flaw are that he misses the "easy yards" either by "**** IT, I'M GOING DEEP" or his balls in the dirt. Vick can at least avoid that and has some mobility, which the elder Shanny likes(Elway, Plummer, and even Cutler had some wheels). That said, Eagles aren't letting Vick go.

Kolb could fit better though. He's super accurate and has some mobility, just not Vick-like mobility.
