The art of defense is becoming a lost art, but I think it is by design. The NFL is a product, just like any form of entertainment. With the exploding ticket prices, people aren't going to part ways with their money to watch a 13-10 yawner of a game. The fact that teams are going more and more to the 3-4, along with the don't hurt the QB at all costs mentality also is contributing to that. These so called rules aren't in place to protect the QB in as much as it is to speed up the tempo of the game and increase scoring.
