Right off the bat I can tell we're gonna disagree b/c I believe the players level of execution is a product of how well they are coached and specifically putting them in positions to have success.
So where did J fail you ask?
(1) gameplan....IF our identity is gonna be run focused then we actually need to commit to running the ball. Against the Giants we did not. We did not follow the gameplan that brought success vs the Rams. We followed a gameplan where Kirk was asked to pass the ball too much, thus placing Kirk in position to fail...which he did. Our strength right now is not the passing but the running game....the OL Trent, Scherff, Moses, Alf and Matt Jones.
(2) Personnel and prep punt return unit. The Gints identified a weakness in our punt protection and exploited it. J had a newly active LB (Plummer) in a key position on punt protect and he failed.
(3) Refusal to run the ball on 3rd and 2. Going deep on 3rd and 2. Inefficient.
(4) On a key short yardage conversion attempt using Carrier (who we know is not a proven run blocker) to block the POA as opposed to McCoy (a known effective run blocker).
(5) Targeting Roberts, known to have drop issues last year and displayed those same issues already...Parcells? I believe said think players not plays when it comes to key situations...i.e
I could go on but its late i'm tired but you get the idea....I am not saying the whole game was on J. But since YOU asked for areas where he failed there are some.
