While you may think it was half assed at least they did something at the draft. What did you expect a 2 hour program during the draft? U.S. soldiers do not get treated like crap often, believe me. When they do it is usually by Civilians not the Government. But those circumstances are heavily outweighed by the times that they receive overwhelming gratitude. Yes, you can feel empathy for people that you don't know due to a common bond. You just expressed empathy for U.S. servicemembers in that last paragraph, and I guarentee that you do not know all of them.
