Mike & Mike: low expectations for the Skins
Greenberg: 8-8
Golic: 6-10 John Seibel: 5-11 They basically said the D isn't very good, and they had concerns about Campbell not being ready for prime time. I think they haven't watched our first team D this preseason. |

Re: Mike & Mike: low expectations for the Skins
Was this just this morning? You are probably right about them not watching us this preseason. I am pretty sure they just looked at our team last year and went with their gut. That is why most of these national sportswriters say stuff that always leaves you scratching your head.

Every time we come in as underdogs (2005) we always over achieve.

Come on folks, these guys know what they are talking about. Some even say they have a direct line to god.

Re: Mike & Mike: low expectations for the Skins
I mean seriously wouldn't you think these guys would feel reports like this violate their professional ethics as sportswriters? These guys are pretty much at the top of sports radio through hard work and good reporting, and yet it seems they don't really do any research and just go with their gut. Atleast see what our offseason moves and preseason stats are. And if they really think our D will be bad they should atleast mention the fact that our starting D looks good so far.

Re: Mike & Mike: low expectations for the Skins
Wait, Mike and Mike?? You mean Man-Girl and Meatball?? A a lot of the guys on ESPN come off as morons. Or at least their producers forcefeed them their opinions and they give off the appearance of being hacks. For every John Clayton, Peter Gammons, and Tim Kurkjian, we have to deal with Michael Irvin (now Keyshawn), Eric Young, etc... If I have to hear Mark Schlereth and Sean Salisbury say "there's no question in my mind" one more time I'm gonna puke. I have such a love-hate relationship with that network. At least SmootSmack is a good dude.

Re: Mike & Mike: low expectations for the Skins
This is fine with me. I'm not sure I care what these guys are saying. Most of the time they are just filling airspace with their hot air anyway. I'd rather everyone underestimate us at the beginning.

I was pretty disappointed hearing them predict such a grim season for the skins.

Re: Mike & Mike: low expectations for the Skins
I have yet to hear anyone give the Skins any love. I don't like to hear it, but, it works for me. Better to be the dog!
I think we will surprise some folks, and I love that!

Re: Mike & Mike: low expectations for the Skins
Most sports analysts are idiots. They simply look at the record the team posted the previous year and then extrapolate from that. I think very few actually go out on a limb and attempt to project something controversial.
It is so cliche - I'm sure none of these guys have watched the Skins play yet in the pre-season. That being said, I still think their o-line is going to really be an achilles heel for them this year and probably prevent them from being a special team. |

Re: Mike & Mike: low expectations for the Skins
I realize our defense was absolutely TERRIBLE last year, but that's more of an exception rather than a rule with Gwilliams. All that said, I can see where people will be very skeptical of us.
