Portis Blocks Taylor

Does anyone have a video of this?

I looked everwhere and was very surprised in was not on "Jacked up." When Campbell scrambled for a first down in the second half Portis absolutely decleated J. Taylor and sent him airborne about 5 feet, it was the greatest block I have ever seen, and the best part was J. Campbell was 10 yards ahead of Taylor.

Thank!

It was Matt Roth he hit, not Taylor, and damn was it a square hit.

Lucky he didn't get unnecessary roughness for it though.

Shameless self-promotion. It is what it is.

Not to start anything, but....it's those kind of plays that separate Portis from Betts

Portis has always been the complete player.

I just wish Saunders would give him a chance to isolate against LBs downfield in the passing game. I believe Portis could be every bit as effective as Brian Westbrook and Tiki Barber as a receiver.

can anyone on this board think of a running back, of portis' caliber, that can block as good as he can? if there are some, its not going to be alot

Maybe Edgerrin James?

In addition to the Portis block, I thought Cooley did an excellent job blocking Jason Taylor when called upon. I credit Portis' TD run to Cooley's block on Taylor. He simply took him out of that play.

It's also those kind of plays that separate Portis' shoulder from the rest of Portis.

Still, I love it - he's my favorite player on the field simply for the stuff he does when he doesn't have the ball. Hardest working guy out there even if he does sit out preseason.

But would you prefer a player who shys away from tackles, or one who is agreesive, passionate, and gives his all on the field?

I am just sick of people finding ways to hate on Portis. Not saying that you are, but it seems like some fans on this board have just become tools to the media and potential speculations. Now that you have your mindset about Portis, you all put any of his actions, quotes, etc into that frame without properly analyzing the situation. There is a psychology term for this problem in human nature, but people just need to look at the situation from a pure game and player aspect.

Re: Portis Blocks Taylor

I agree Portis looked really fresh and he looked like he was ready to go. Betts had a couple really nice runs, but he didn't seem to have it quite like last year. I'm sure we will see the Betts from last year return in the next couple weeks.

That, and not coughing up the ball.
