That was a red flag too. How do you not realize when your players have been tossed? Did you just run into the locker room and not see the scrum? Clown shoes, man.

Re: The everything Gruden thread

The front office essentially got rid of the two Shannys and brought in one Gruden.

This team is essentially the same team that racked up 3 wins from last year. (I realize there have been minor changes.)

You don't change the identity and culture of a team by substituting one guy in. Gruden witnessed a class act in Marvin Lewis in Cincy during his years there. He knows what a winning culture is.

I believe the FO placed too much emphasis on continuity from last year because Gruden was a rookie HC. What ended up happening is the same losing culture and piss poor coaching was carried over.

Other than Jackson, we have the same crappy players bolstered by bad F.A. signings as last year.

Same offensive line except 77. Same defensive line exept 97. Arguably a worse deep secondary.

I have been really disappointed in Gruden as well. I think one of the biggest mistakes he made this year was not taking a timeout before the half at S.F. That was truly a rookie mistake and costs us points in a close game.

If the FO fires Gruden and brings in whoever and maintains the same crappy players and the same crappy coaching staff what should the expectations be next year?

That's exactly what happened last year.

I hope he has an opportunity to shape his coaching staff and personnel to his plan.

That way he fails or succeeds on his own merit, not B.A.'s. Anybody taking the job this year was doomed.

All that being said, I was hoping for more and he has underwhelmed big time. For the life of me, I don't understand why we can't do simple things like get Reed or Paul to block. That one little thing would be huge. Stuff like that aggravates the crap out of me.

One more year is in the cards for him here.

Re: The everything Gruden thread

The clock management before halftime should be enough reason for Gruden to be shown the door today. He's not pro HC material, it's blatant.

Hoping Snyder has already started search for Grudens replacement, anybody heard?

- The team is wildly undisciplined under him with personal conduct penalties (personal fouls, unsportsmanlike conduct), poor effort and way too many blown assignments to count. Add into that the loose culture and locker room from a 3-11 team.
- The team's performance has consistently gotten worse. They haven't competed since (maybe) the Minnesota game.
- In comparison to last year, this season 'feels' worse because there's nothing but apathy and disgust amongst the fanbase. Even as Shanahan was burning his way out of town, at least there was a thought among some that the right guy could turn things around to at least .500. I've never felt nor seen such a lack of hope.
- His talent evaluation skills are highly questionable at BEST, non existent perhaps. Lavaou & Chester still starting? Cutting so many draft picks and free agent signings? Seriously, what the hell is he doing?

I'm done with him and Allen. Blow the whole f'n thing up. Don't maintain continuity for the sake of continuity. This guy is a disaster.
This team looks similar to last year which tells me it's more on the players. Maybe another guy gets a few more wins out of this group, but at best this is a 6 win team.

This team is more than a one year project......for anyone.
Dumping Gruden at this juncture would confirm the apparent incompetence of our front office, thus assuring we never have an opportunity to sign a decent coach....

Look at Houston. They have a new HC and have improved over last year with virtually the same players.plus their qb situation is arguably worst then ours.

At very best.
I also do not think the qb's have regressed under him. Thats bull. They both sucked last year too.

I don't see how any qb situation is worse. Forget athletic talent injury alone has rotated 3 qbs in and out. No head coach is succeeding with this o-line. None period. You can't set deep, 3 steps get batted down, etc etc

Stop being so sensible. That is not the Redskin way. Lets just assume the guy that inherited a complete disaster that took YEARS to build sucks because he wasnt able to turn burning shit into gold bars with no cap money, no first round pick, and the worst DC in history that was "given" to him, in 13 WEEKS! Holy crap everybody.

Putting a new system in place and getting the right kind of people is always a multi-year project. The question is do you have have enough confidence to continue with Gruden? This is classic cost benefit and risk analysis, just be mindful of who your analysts are.

Same story in Detroit and Cleveland (pre-Manziel lol). Tampa still blows.

Gruden has more talent to work with this year than we had last year and more help all around. Special teams better this. Defense had some strong games this season and we have a legit passrush playmaker in Kerrigan now but defense overall is pretty close.

Gruden was coddled in Cincy folks! Elite defense backing him up with a ton of talent to work with on offense. Elite oline and best WR in pro football.

And most importantly he wasn't tasked to lead anything/anybody. Lewis' players run through walls for him and so do Zimmer's.

There are plenty of teams with bad lines. The Seahawks had 3 no namers step in last season and ball. Perhaps the problem isn't the line but the fact the Redskins:

a) don't know how to coach players up.
b) we don't now how to make adjustments and work around line issue.
c) we don't know how to draft or acquire capable linemen.

Re: The everything Gruden thread

I can't remember seeing a Skins team beat themselves so badly week in and week out. We actually have a top-12 offense and defense yet we consistently lose because we consistently do stupid things: miss simple coverages, miss simple blitz pickups, make pointless personal fouls, get kicked out of games, etc.

This undiscipline is on Gruden.
