I think Donovan is exactly what most people figured he would be on this team..a good leader who is able to still do some things, but is past his best and best used in a role where he starts for a year or 2 while another QB watches from the bench until he is ready..
While they played good it was nothing that impressive.

So one bad division means the entire league is awful?

Sorry not buying that.

Can someone change the title to this thread? I am absolutely disgusted with the title.

Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?

Lets be honest.
Our passing game is not better.
Yards is probably the least meaningful metric in terms of measuring the quality of a passing offense.

We're a few 3rd down conversions away from converting the fewest 3rd downs in the past 40 years in the NFL, that my friend is not good.
Our passing offense this year is worse then last year in all the meaningful metrics:
YPA, RZ conversion %, the already mentioned 3rd down conversion, QB rating, comp %.

If you think having more yards is more important then the other stats then we see offense very differently.

I was expecting McNabb/Kyle to at least match the passing game production from last year.

When the Colts offense struggles they usually come back the next week with a vengeance. 14 points against the Chargers produced a season low for them the next week they put up 35 points. We on the other hand have posted less then 20 points in 8 games this season including the last 3 games.

And to make matters one of the games that we did manage to put up over 20 points was thanks to the fact that Banks gave us a TD Return against the Lions not to mention the fact that Banks has given our offense plenty of chances to work with a short field. So with that our offense has failed to post more than 20 points in 9 games this season.

We've also had two games won by defensive scores (Dallas and Chicago).

Strongly disagree with that statement as it relates to Collins. Collins played lights out during that late season playoff run posting a QB rating of 106. It would have been higher had it not been for the terrible winds at Giants Stadium during his second start.

We were also in position to beat Seattle during the playoffs.

Re: Is anyone else just absolutely disgusted with DM5's play?

I know I was all giddy for McNabb this offseason that the hard drives hosting this forum want the space back.

HOWEVER, all that optimism was that we were finally going to get a running game and thus make McNabb more useful without having him to throw 30+ times every stinking time to win games. He CANNOT carry the O by himself and do something like lead the team down the field by converting short pass after short pass like many of the truly elite QBs and to-be great-to-elite QBs can.

He's not a complete QB anymore, and it's arguable he never was because of his poor performance in the short passing game when guys like Brian Westbrook are not helping him out. I'm not absolutely disgusted with his play, but his play has been very underwhelming.

I don't think Shanny is planning moment by moment, he has a plan. McNabb is just a bridge that not only gives us a chance to win now but the future as well.
Damn expensive bridge if you ask me. I think when the season is finally over, people will still ask, and rightfully so, are we that much better off now that Jason Campbell is no longer here and Donovan McNabb is the Redskins' quarterback. Especially if the Raiders back into the playoffs or sniff a winning record.

It was time for Campbell to go, and I don't know whatbthe Raiders possibly backing into the playoffs has to do with anything.

We should have kept Chase

THE O LINE has to be fixed first...and foremost. Without it and welcome to Detroit. WITH it and you will be amazed at how much better everybody else on the Offense becomes......including #5
Theismann....Williams....Rypien...etc

First of all, The money doesn't mean crap to anyone but DS and he has more than he can spend so we need to stop making money a factor in these situations.

Secondly, JC was on his way out wether DM came here or not. And if people will ask if we are better off without JC now that DM is the Redskin QB, the answer is YES. Give DM last years Defense or this years playing the 4-3 and Portis And DM more than puts up enough points to win most of the games we lost.

I've said this before, bring JC back here and he would be just like last year or worse.

The team as a whole is playing worse than last year. Sad but true.

I wasn't referring to the money, but rather the draft picks we gave up for what, thus far, has been a very underwhelming Donovan McNabb.

As far as JC goes, as long as McNabb continues to have sub-par performances, I think the Jason Campbell discussion will always have some relevance to Skins fans.

He's a bridge to nowhere. There's a whole host of second rounders who already have panned out this year that we could have used long after McNabb would be gone. Terrence Cody, Nate Allen, hell, even reaching for Jared Veldheer would have benefited us more than McNabb.

thats a good post right there. my main issue if we are comparing this year to last was that almost every passing play was no more than 3 yds from the LOS, with most yards (i think almost 70%) came from YAC, which placed JC way way ahead of the rest of the pack. plus all the garbage yards JC and our offense picked up last year. if a team was up by 2 scores by halftime, they were shutting it down in terms of agressiveness, playing conservative, making them march down the field offense.

with completion percentage, qb rating (which i stopped really considering) i think a dink and dunk offense gives you go numbers but where are you? right back to where we were before gibbs II after the 1st season, looking for an offense that can stretch the field to eliminate the 8 man box. enter lloyd and ARE.

we finally finally have a "stretch the field" passing attack after so many years of putting our run game against 8 man boxes, i like it. i see it as a step into the modern nfl offense.

woot woot posting on the weeknight!
