Well you can't rebuild a team when you mortgage all of your picks on one rookie (Shanny years) and had a lot of failed mid/lower round picks.

The word rebuilding is a crutch. Anytime a team sucks something awful, the word "rebuilding" gets thrown around.

Real rebuilding implies, scrapping everything, starting over, seeing improvement over the years but slowly being able to see pieces come together here and there.

On the defensive side of the ball, I might be able to buy that. The young guys show some promise.

On the offensive side of the ball, that's not rebuilding. The offense Still looks out of sync. The O-line is still looking shaky. RG3 is still making the same mental mistakes. He's still fumbling the ball. On the play he got injured, it wasn't even the O-line's fault. And looks like he's still soft and injury prone.

At some point people are going to have to address the elephant in the room.

It is like Groundhogs Day around here. Same crap every year. I bet you could reread 2014 posts and think they are current.

I hate to say, but I completely agree!

As I mentioned, Colt McCoy looked a lot more professional than RG3.

Well.. It's just the preseason but guys need to step up and play hard... We have ppl out right now, lotta inexperienced or just not that good of guys playing... I'm less worried about the team as a whole, as I am about our damn injuries... And Robert... Potential but my vote is cousins, not McCoy

I wish they'd start Kirk against the 1st stringers this pre-season. Just to see how he does.

Just might happen next week, with RGIII injuries.

We know how he'd do. He'd do great. As he always does when he's playing the back-up. But as soon as he gets a chance to be a starter, he'll throw three picks in the first half and get pulled by the third quarter.

I agree....I haven't seen any noticible improvement with RG3. He still makes stupid statements, drops the ball, takes massive hits, gets injured and cant get TD's...other than that, he is the best QB in the league.

At this point...I wouldn't mind if we traded him for a 4th rounder....or any competant starting OL/TE/safety/HC/OC/DC/Owner

Well the problem is that before this year, the team was not rebuilding. This is the first year of that rebuilding process.

Re: Gameday Thread: Redskins vs Lions

You will have protection issues when you start a journey man LT, rookie RG and 2nd year RT. I do not remember RG3 having one boot leg or screen pass to slow down the pass rush. He should have been in the game during the 4th series. Just my two cents.

I think the first thing we need to do to start real rebuilding is get rid of RG3.

I don't know if that means Cousins, or drafting a guy, or bringing in someone who's already established in the NFL but if we get halfway into this season and RG3 is still the RG3 who's been nothing if not a complete and utter disappointment the past couple of seasons, we need to cut our losses stat. You've had a whole off-season to study, heal and work. You've had 2 seasons with the playbook. I just don't see RG3 coming back if the Skins don't end the season at 8-8. I'd maybe even give him 6-10 but I feel like below .500 doesn't bode well for a guy who has been squandering chance after chance.

And yeah he's been injured, but this is the year to put that injury excuse to bed.
